What the **** is the point of Cowboys Dance Hall

If we don't get Deadmau5 and Above & Beyond

Oh, wait i forgot SA dance scene isn't up to pare

Atleast when the SpyRoom was open we didn't have famous Dj's but we had a bad fucking ass underground dance scene where you could take your shirts off..get laid in the sofa's and massive amounts of X and the music was always the latest songs just not dropped by the famous Dj's that produced or remixed them.

Then we had Club Space where every weekend we had Alex Gold, Digweed, and others but the owner of that club let it sink. The last 2 shows I saw her on 281 & Bitter was Paul Oaknfold and Dj Micro...yeah, their B & C list Dj's but I want some fucking allstars...I did see Armin & Oaky but @ Antro...come on Club Antro..that place is as big as a prison cell

Na...PVD been there, Paul Oakenfold (of course) Tiesto...and a bunch others...Aphrodite...it was happening at one point..it's a big place and always fills up to max when someone comes down, they do line dancing on certain nights..cowboy stuff but if they can get a Dj in there they make more money but the Dj's just stopped coming

George Acosta and Kid Icarus played there ...that was one of the most jammin' set I heard not Acosta but Kid Icarus tore that place up with his set....Donald Glaude was at one club also...it's been awhile so I forget all the Dj's I seen..Also seen Eric Prydz. I'd have to look at my ticket book but my point is it was getting good Dj's or atleast decent Dj's...something to do on a weekend here in San Antonio was better than nothing and instead of putting Armin @ Cowboys dancehall and threw him @ Antro, they didn't make enough cash for Armin to come back to SA..if he was at cowboys, it's sooo big of a place and has 2 floors equally as big, i think he might have came back to SA

Yes they can be but they also can bring some massive sets that are a lot of fun...Underground clubs with local Dj's can be just as cool but when your older, speaking for myself, I like to say I saw some important Dj's & Producers of my time. I've seen a bunch in the past but I am missing show after show these days...it's just a personal decsion

The places you desire in SA won't happen because of the SA people. Places that play radio will always be packed. When things start to die down...all they have to do is slap on a new paint job, change the name and keep playing the same music...and laugh as they watch all the sheep stand in line to the new hip place of SA.

I wish Davenport was still open.

Derrek Howell needs to visit SA.

You guys find a comfortable loft, I can bring the surround sound and production talent. $5 cover... bring back the old school!

I tried to bring him to Dolce, but his manager never got back to me with a price. I'm heading to his home with a bottle of Ether if I have to...

We brought some good DJs to Dolce and did a pretty good job, I think. We had Senor Cashion, Opencloud, Shawn Mitiska, Retrobyte (Christopher Norman), Mike Hiratzka, D:Fuse, Francis Preve, Filo and Peri (sans Peri), and others I can't remember. The crowd was fickle (the cover was free) and we gave up. The main players in the SA crowd didn't care to back us and get the word out so it fizzled out. We had some awesome times with the people that DID show up though.

Dolce was a good time with those dj's...it got ghetto...just like everything else does in San Antonio though.

Yeah, the weekend crowd wanted Top 40 and whatnot...typical.

You would think people would get tired of hearing the same music in the car, at work, in the mall, at bars, and clubs.

I always laugh when people fill the jukebox with money and play the same songs they could hear if they were to talk to their car and turn on the radio.

I always like to put something on and catch the reaction of people looking at each other, waiting to see what the other does, so they all can follow suit.

Dave, I had a great time at Dolce!!! Fun crowd and reactive. I like SA, Gujillo's (??) rocks! Hopefully, you guys can pull some cool night off. Small venues, good sound systems, with solid unknown/lesser-known talent, no expectations, just good music that ends up blowing your mind.

Next time call me about Derek, I'll help you out.

Posted by civicstyle on Sep-11-2008 17:33:

Ya Lance you DID have a good time that night

So much for the "scene" as only thing we have now is on Saturdays over at the Eden night.

Dude, you still hold the record for fastest chowdown at Guajillo's. Your plate was practically spinning when we got our food.

Anytime I land a spot, its a given I'm bringing you down to SA.
