The short answer is no. They were owned by Turnkey and two years ago Turnkey got bought by Sound Control. Then sound control went bust, and many of the branches became "reverb stores", selling off the group's old stock.

What do you want to know about them? I know quite a bit about them.

Yep thats exacly what happened however the some of the engineers are/were trying to re start carillion on their own.

They had quite a lot of business and educational contract so I can't see them just leaving it there.

I had one of there pc's and it was built rock solid however if your not into building pc's your self ( If you havn't considered this have a read up on it as I'm sure your be shocked by how simple it is)

Alternitivley there are other audio pc builders out there. Got my last pc from digital village and I'm impressed.

Regards

I always thought that they where rather expensive for the specs. Last time I compared I could build a carrilon PC with half the money. Ofcourse Carrilon had some extra features, but still...

Rather blow my money on a mac

i know how to build a pc, but i wouldnt know what parts to buy, could someone tell me what motherboard a should get for a start ? i know that its mainly down to the processor and ram which mainly determines ur performance like.

Posted by Storyteller on Sep-12-2008 10:32:

Motherboard, processor, RAM are most important for optimal performance.

If you know what processor you want, take it from there. Find a motherboard that has high data transfer rates. The more the better in most cases . Then preferably get the max. speed RAM that's possible for the motherboard. And you'll more or less have maximum performance.

of course you have to make sure you stay within budget so it's all about making compromises in the end. Unless you have a big budget

lol nah the budget aint massive, ok cheers guys.

Buy a cheap motherboard (preferably with intergrated video if u dont play games) good CPU and decent RAM.

Posted by Storyteller on Sep-12-2008 11:58:

I disagree on the integrated video card. A basic video card costs less than 50E, I got mine for 35Euro. A seperate video card is a bit better for your performance than one that's on the motherboard, isn't it (I'm not 100% sure) ?

Posted by Subtle on Sep-12-2008 12:25:

if you can save 40 euro by buying a motherboard that has everything you need, you could always buy a new video card later.. it will tie up a little bit of the budget.

This motherboard has 12 USB slots, 2 PCI express and costs the same as other cheap motherboards, leaving money for the most important factor the CPU.

Yes. Integrated cards use resources and ram from the pc. This might be ok for a laptop, but desktop pc's today have no reason to run integrated parts. I guess that's why almost nobody uses them anymore.

As for the PC.. depends on your budged ofc. I'd go for an asus/gigabyte motherboard, some top of the line core2duo, 2 or 4 gb ram (dual channel), 2xseagate disks in raid0 + 1 disk for backup and, ofc, the quietest and biggest fans you can find + a insulated "silent" tower. Well at least that's what I'm running, and for the first time ever I can say I've got processing power to spare.

The point is that then the video card is the cheapest and easiest upgradable component in the PC, leaving room to spend 50 dollars extra on the CPU which expensive to upgrade.

I agree for performance those are obviously the main things to look at but I dont think things like the case, power supply & fans should be over looked. Dont buy a case because it has some plexi-glass on it & a blue light buy something that is quiet & made to hold back sound. The same goes for the fans most ppl buy the cheapest available but they sound like a 747 engine.

Not being an ass, but 50$ isn't a whole lot.
