Tyler Perry

What the fuck is the deal with this guy?

When did cross-dressing blaxploitation become en vogue again (or at all, I guess)?

I have never seen any of his movies, but apparently there are millions of them.

I have no idea who that is.

His movies are really cheesy & predictable. His new TV show isn't any better, either. All around crap.

So many non lulz

Spike Lee's smegma.

I feel like there is an ad for something he's doing on TV every five seconds, and it all seems to be some odd combination of predictably "black" movies or TV shows that somehow incorporate a cross-dressing old lady in the mix (like a less funny version of Big Momma's House 2 - something I'm not even sure is possible).

Posted by Frenchie on Sep-12-2008 00:05:

Why are you watching BET?

Posted by RJT on Sep-12-2008 00:07:

I don't even get BET.

Comedy Central and TBS (which I didn't think stood for "The Black Station")...

Too poor for black TV? Shit, son

Yikes. No, not for me at least.

Almost every other sketch comedy show ever > In Living Color.

cheap lulz, if any

Posted by RJT on Sep-12-2008 06:36:

Huh. This thread got far more replies than I thought it would.

Good show.

Chimera - how many of them have you watched with your mom? Is it kind of like the B movie versions of Waiting to Exhale and that Spike Lee basketball movie with Ray Allen?

What a worthless human being. I want his publicist, though. That person could probably get TBS to advertise for pet rocks.

I've seen a couple Tyler Perry shows. I think I was high. I'm not sure though. Either way the experience was worse (or better?) than those movies in mystery science 3000.

His stuff watches like a after school special. And his comedy is not funny unless you grew up in a large black family, and even then it's only mildly amusing.

His comedy is completely dependent on black stereotypes, that have already been beaten to death long before he came around.
