This looks really, really nice, Jeff. Grabbing it now, adding it to the pile of stuff to be listened to. ![]()
good shit, of course
Thanks guys
This was great, Jeff - I really dug it, definitely think it's something you should be really proud of and should work as a great promo. If anything, I thought it was a great showcase of a versatile opening DJ, and it reminded me kind of a bit of a local from Chicago.
Anyways, a few things - and please don't think I mean to say "you should have done this and it would have been great", because I really think it is a solid set, these were just a few thoughts I had while listening.
The original mix of Yacht is one of my favorite releases on Kompakt, so I was glad to see it as the opener - but I really thought you could have edited Babicz mix down a bit for time, it was a cool opener and I got what you were trying to do with it - I just wish it had more elements of the original, and felt between the breaks Babicz mix dragged a bit. The mix out of it was solid, and the flow of the next four was unreal. Didn't know about that Shur-i-Kan tune until now... picked it up straight away.
The mix out of True to You was pretty clever, and I smiled a bit when I heard you mix in the middle of a break, but I really think it could have benefited either from an edit to just loop the "True to You" vocal, or a looper - when the other elements of that tune came back in later on in the mix it didn't sound bad, I just thought it was a bit muddled.
The only other thing that was even remotely odd to me was the mix out of Flicking Pages, but I bought it as soon as the break in Cherry Blossom came in.
All in all, though - very minor complaints. This is really nice stuff, and your ability to keep stuff in time and taste in music are class.
Well done.
Back to the front page with you I say.
MuttonMan delivers the goods once again!
One of your best this year so far, Jeffers. Really enjoyed myself with this one. ![]()

| Originally posted by Jeff Button Really glad you enjoyed this bro, and by no means did I take any of your suggestions or comments in a bad way whatsoever. The mix itself was done on one take, with no intent to deliver perfection. But after hearing what you had to say, I kind of with I sent you this in advance - because I totally agree with every suggestion you made. lol I get a lot of people asking me to bang it out on a regular basis, especially with these monthly promos - but that rarely happens. I feel a promo is a great opportunity to showcase something different that a live or club mix doesn't provide... sexy, lush, groovy stuff that you can just sit back and enjoy. Though I'll warn you.... Fall 2008 Promo will be a bit on the dark/twisted side Thanks again for the review Rob |
Just a pop in to say this is a brilliant set.
Except Daniel Kyo remix of Flicking Pages. it just sounds not right and a bit too 'techy' for the overall feel of the set IMO.
