Porter Air Ftw
Flying down to NYC for Minitek and I decided to try Porter Air instead of having to go to Pearson. A few friends had told me how good it was using Porter but this was so simple, easy and stress free.
Left my place at 5:20 AM. Went downstairs, hailed a cab, checked in and was cleared security by 5:45 AM. Now i'm sitting in the lounge having a late, while using one of their many Mac's. It will be hard to go back to Pearson ever again if I can use Porter instead.
just outta curiosity, how much was the flight?
If booked in advance the flight to NYC is about $300-320.
Porter is fantastic. They recently added to their fleet and soon will be flying non-stop to halifax (they previously went through Ottawa). The money you might spend on a slightly more expensive Porter flight is offset by the much much lower taxi fare to the airport. Getting a cab from downtown to pearson runs you $50 each way guaranteed. I believe the airport fees at the city centre airport are less than Pearson as well.
The free wine is nice too
do they server u a porter steak too?
nonono but seriously....yea they mightve added more planes to their fleet but do u feel safe in them? everyone i know thats taken smaller aircrafts in this sector have complained about being shit scared with the planes they sat in
^ I'm not gonna lie you do feel a lot of the turbulence if the weather's bad, but Porter offsets that by serving free beer and wine! They'll only give you one, but they won't say no if you ask for more
I'm flying up to TO in 4 weeks on Porter. This will be my fourth round trip with them. Getting off the plane and being right downtown is priceless.

| Originally posted by Skipper That's because your friends are pussies. Private jets are smaller but I bet they wouldn't turn that down! Porter's fleet is far newer than that of larger carriers. Just because a plane is bigger and run by a major airline does not mean its safer. |
Were you not relating the feeling or illusion of safety to the size of the aircraft? And do major carriers not have larger aircrafts?
Are your friends flying Air Force One? Because that aside, "shit" is going to rattle during takeoff, landing and turbulence.

after flying in a 6 or 8 seat Cesna, piloted by a guy prob 10 yrs younger than me, I'm sure I could handle anything Porter puts on the runway, lol.

| Originally posted by She_Fitz Lan's deal is pretty much the best thing out there. I make the trip just about every 2 weeks and you can't even get that rate out of Buffalo. I booked 3 flights with them for basically the same cost a 1 round trip with AC. Porter is between $59-99/flight plus taxes and fuel charges. So it is usually around the $300 mark when all said and done. |

Flight was great. I didn't notice anymore or less turbulance compared to bigger or smaller planes I've been on.
I paid $320 return and I do know about the LAN deal. If it was only one or two people I would probably still use Porter because of where I live (save $50 taxi to Pearson each way), how easy it was checking in and out at the island and at Newark. If I was going with more people (or lived where Shelly does) I would probably use LAN because then the actual amount of money saved would offset the benefits of using Porter and would help towards the hotel in NYC.
