Which headphones to buy?
Hey all,
Im going to buy DJ headphones but am not sure which to get, any suggestions?
Obviously everyone has their own tastes, but i just need someone to point me in the right direction, first of all they have to be strong i broke my last 2, (and i dont have a big head lol)
Bass is a must, whats best in ur opinion?
if youre looking for SERIOUS bass, the Ultrasone DJ1 or DJ1PRO have the best bass of any headphone I've ever tried. I have even played some subwoofer test tracks in these headphones, and they DID NOT distort whatsoever...which is pretty impressive for a 50mm driver (as opposed to the 10" or 12"+ subwoofers its intented for!)
i have pioneer hdj100's and they are spot on i think.
Allen & Heath Xone 53

the pioneer hdj 1000's have a freq response of 5Hz to 30kHz lol, whats the point !
piss contest?
The Pioneer HDJ-1000's are pretty popular, but the joint is prone to breaking, especially if you fold the earcups upward.
There are also accounts of people having them for at least 2 years without breaking, so your mileage may vary.
Sennheiser HD25's are the best imo.
Sennheiser HD25's are supra-aural, meaning the earcups rest on your ears. The construction of the HD25's are superb and are really durable.
HD25's are also ungodly expensive in the US. The cheapest I've found (for the HD25, not the HD25-SP which has a different headband) was ~$120, and that was in Hawaii of all places.

I'll go ahead and put the 7506 plug in.
I may have to have a look at these Sennheiser HD25's

If i had the chance to buy another set of headphones I'd give the 7506's a go. But I just bought myself a Xone 92 and for an extra 10'er I got a 'free' set of Xone XD53's. Should be interesting to see what they sound like. |

b0p.

I agree that the HD25's do sound nice indeed, I just didn't like the way that they sat on your ears (instead of going over them).
Different strokes.
Another plug for 7506. Best buy for the quality, durability and price.
Though HD25 are the cat's ass

Has anyone tested/used the Ultrasone HFI-2200's?? How is it in terms of noise cancellation? I geuss compared to the Ultrasone DJ1's.
i said it before and i'll say it again
those who use the 7506 won't recommend anything else, those who recommend something else haven't used the 7506s
that's just a generalization but so far it seems to hold true for now
i love the hd-25, i would buy them but the cups are too small for my taste
my 7506s are slutty as hell after years of abuse and they still keep ticking, and i mean years of rigorous club abuse, drunken slamming them in my bag and everything
i'm finally buying a new pair of cans and i'm getting a new pair of 7506s

i bought ultrasone hfi-680's when i got fed up with the sony mdr-7506's ear piercing highs and the insides of the cans rubbing my ears so much, i had to stop using them because my ears were so irritated (the pads aren't nearly thick enough for me).
anyway, the sound quality on the ultrasones is the best i've heard in my life. just incredible. the fit could be better if the pads were a bit larger. isolation isn't as good as on sennheiser hd280pros for example, but it's better than on mdr-7506's for sure. one downside is that, the cable is not coiled.
ultrasone has three lines of can, the hfi, pro and dj. they all look different, but certain ones are quite similar internally. i decided not to get the dj1's or the dj1 pros as IMO they look like crap 5 headphones and i couldn't pay so much for something like that. the pro line headphones are all blue and look fucking horrible too, but i could have bought any of them if they had been in stock and not out of my price range when i was in the market for new cans.
if both were the same price, would you rather buy the xone xd 53 or the 7506?
