NFL Pick 'Em Thread v2.0 [Begins week 3]

Alright, so in light of the fact that CraveTheRave is pissed he can't fap to Tom Brady the rest of this season, I've decided to try and run a "Pick 'Em" thread for the rest of the season, as there really isn't any reason to give up now.

Because we're starting the third week of the season, I'm going to try a new ruleset - but if it isn't agreeable I am very open to changing the rules, so long as it's done by the kickoff of the first game week three.

Rules:

- I'm going to try and run this in a manner that will not require everyone to vote every week, so I figure points based is best.
- I won't be doing a suicide pool. Quite boring with small participation.
- I am open to doing this straight up or with the spread. I'd prefer straight up so as to make score compilation a little less time consuming for me, but meh - don't really care either way I guess.
- Picks will be allowed for each game up until the schedule kickoff time, any made after will not be counted.

Scoring:

- I'm thinking basic is best. One point for each correct pick, highest point total at the end of the season is the winner.

...

Maybe there really won't be any interest in this, in which case we can let it die, but if there is I'm up for it for sure.

Comments, suggestions, etc. are more than welcome as long as it's before midnight this Saturday night/Sunday morning (though solidified rules would be nicer earlier).

So, any interest?

Scoreboard:

Name [Total Record] (This Week)

Following Week 1 (NFL Week 3):

I'm in!

Fuck the spread. Let's just do winners.

Posted by RJT on Sep-15-2008 16:10:

Cool, I'm definitely interested in just doing the winners as well.

Hopefully Vern will see this some time today and replace the sticky at the top with this one.

Anyone else who's down, please check in sometime this week just so I know how many folks I can expect initially.

Kansas City at Atlanta - Both are awful, Atlanta has the better running game.

Oakland at Buffalo - Bills by a nose, both teams are young but Buf. has superior talent.

Tampa Bay at Chicago - Tampa, if they stop the run.

Houston at Tennessee - Houston for the upset! They had an extra week rest.

Carolina at Minnesota - Vikes need this win, AP to run all over the place.

Miami at New England - Pats by a Moss TD.

Cincinnati at NY Giants - Cinci looks awful this year.

Arizona at Washington - Hightower with 2 TDs, this kid is Marion Barber 2.0.

Detroit at San Francisco - Better to be lucky than good.

St. Louis at Seattle - I hear Seattle finally has some WRs.

New Orleans at Denver - Playa playa. They are who they thought they were. Saints pissed after dropping one to Wash(out)ington.

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia - Toss up. I think Fast Willie finally comes down to Earth. McNabb is out to prove critics... again.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis - No Bob Sanders? Huge day for MJD and Mr. Fragile.

Cleveland at Baltimore - Offense finally clicks.

Dallas at Green Bay - It's a National televised game. Popcorn? Check!

NY Jets at San Diego - No matter what, Chargers are not going 0-3 and I don't want to see LT cry.

Kansas City at Atlanta - Going with Denys on this, plus I think ATL has a chance of getting hot late this year. Don't know why.

Oakland at Buffalo - I don't think Oakland is good, and I'm 90% sure the Bills will sneak into the playoffs this year.

Tampa Bay at Chicago - Still a little impressed by Chicago's opening week efforts, this week will make or break them IMO though.

Houston at Tennessee - Tennessee screams "collapse" to me right now.

Carolina at Minnesota - Vikings are shit. Adrian Peterson will be their Barry Sanders.

Miami at New England - Pats will be fine without Brady.

Cincinnati at NY Giants - Cincinnati will be 0-16 this year.

Arizona at Washington - Arizona will be 3-13 this year.

Detroit at San Francisco - I saw Detroit play last week. Yikes.

St. Louis at Seattle - Think Seattle has a very well rounded team this year. St. Louis has been a disaster again.

New Orleans at Denver - On the fence on this one, but again kind of agree with Denys.

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia - Some stupid, stupid fucking mistakes by Philly on Monday night - I'm expecting the same in this game, and if that happens, Pittsburgh is going to walk all over them.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis - I'm predicting spectacular collapse for Indy this year.

Cleveland at Baltimore - Horse a piece.

Dallas at Green Bay - Look for Rodgers, Grant, Driver, Jones, and Jennings to have a field day with the D's defense. Packers defense is good enough to deal with Romo and TO, so long as penalties don't kill them. I'm guessing this is going to be a high scoring affair.

NY Jets at San Diego - Even at 0-2 I think the Chargers are a better team than the Jets.

Kansas City at Atlanta - KC is god awful even my Bengals could beat them

Oakland at Buffalo - The Raiders have no chance

Tampa Bay at Chicago - I think Chicago could easily lose this game but what the hell

Houston at Tennessee - I don't think Tennessee is that great but right now I think they are better than Houston

Carolina at Minnesota - Poor AP plays for such a shit team, the Vikings have no chance

Miami at New England - Sorry Miami, you might as well forefit

Cincinnati at NY Giants - I hope my Bengals win a game but this won't be it

Arizona at Washington - I'm gonna give this one to Washington but I'm on the fence

Detroit at San Francisco - The Lions could be 0-16 this year. Oh well, at least next week is a bye and they can't loose

St. Louis at Seattle - The Rams could also end up 0-16 this year they make the Bengals look good

New Orleans at Denver - The Saints haven't looked good at all this year, they will fall to Denver even if the officials make all the right calls

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia - Ben's shoulder is suspect and the Eagles will be after him

Jacksonville at Indianapolis - This will be a close game, I don't think Indy is good this year but I have no confidence in Jacksonville either

Cleveland at Baltimore - Who even cares? The AFC North is the toilet bowl of the NFL, the division could probably be won with someone with an 7-9 record.

Dallas at Green Bay - Rodgers will get his ass handed to him for the first time. Dallas beat the Eagles even with Romo spotting them two TDs on stupid fuckups, they can handle Green Bay if he does at least that well. God bless the Dallas Cowboys!

NY Jets at San Diego - I just can't bring myself to pick the Jets even though this could be a close one

Kansas City at - Atlanta - Do I really care?

Oakland at Buffalo - Bills will be 3-0. wtf?

Tampa Bay at Chicago - Kyle Orton? What?

Houston at Tennessee - Dont cry Vince Young, I am picking the Titans to win this one!

Carolina at Minnesota - Again, don't care.

Miami at New England - Miami still sucks.

Cincinnati at NY Giants - I wont the Giants to lose, but...no way.

Arizona at Washington - Redskins will molest the Cardinals.

Detroit at San Francisco - Detroit sucks.

St. Louis at Seattle - So does St Louis.

New Orleans at Denver - Reggie Overrated Bush

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia - I hope the Eagles really lose.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis - No way Jacksonville starts off 0-3.

Cleveland at Baltimore - Cleveland is a better team. I think.

Dallas at Green Bay - Homo will freeze in the tundra, even though its still October.

NY Jets at San Diego - J.E.T.S!

Kansas City at Atlanta - What a boring game.
Oakland at Buffalo - I say Michael Bush scores a couple of TDs and the Raiders contend on the road, but the Bills still take it.
Tampa Bay at Chicago - The Bears won't let Griese beat them.
Houston at Tennessee - Titans take this.
Carolina at Minnesota - Peterson is probably out for this game and Steve Smith is back.
Miami at New England - Will Randy Moss catch a TD this season?
Cincinnati at NY Giants - Eli will have a field day with this secondary.
Arizona at Washington - Kurt Warner is hot, but this is a tough road game. I expect Portis to run wild, as the Arizona secondary is pretty good.
Detroit at San Francisco - Frank Gore is going to run for 200 yards.
St. Louis at Seattle - Matty actually has receivers this week.
New Orleans at Denver - I'm pumped about this game. It's gonna be a shootout. This could go either way. The Saints secondary is hurt, but my gut feeling says Drew Brees and Shockey have huge games.
Pittsburgh at Philadelphia - McNabb comes out with a vengeance after the MNF game. DeSean Jackson actually scores this time.
Jacksonville at Indianapolis - Reggie Wayne lights up the Jags.
Cleveland at Baltimore - Someone please tell Derek Anderson and Braylon Edwards the season has started.
Dallas at Green Bay - Ryant Grant is hurting.
NY Jets at San Diego - The Chargers are the best 0-2 team in the league. Another shootout.

Ronnie Brown had other thoughts.

Ohh and can I mention that Moss has that gleam in his eyes again? Yes the same one we saw in Oakland not too long ago.

Also - question? Are we doing the whole honor roll system and keeping track of our own stats?

Nope, I've got them - will be up Tuesday morning. Anyone who edits the post their picks are in after kickoff the first game of the week gets automatically DQ'd.

Homer.

I'm looking at the Cowboys schedule for the rest of the year and I'm not sure that anyone can beat them. Maybe the Eagles the last week of the season if they already have home field locked up and are resting their starters.

Talk to me when you've won more than a single game and your losses are at the hands of the best team in the NFL.

The Packers were outplayed yesterday, plain and simple. The Vikings, on the other hand, got lucky - which is their only hope for the rest of the season.

You don't make it to the playoffs on the strength of a single player - and that's all you've got.

Of course he does - he's a kicker and the all time leading scorer for the Packers.
