I understand where you're coming from, but..it is what it is. I just do my best to enjoy the music, despite the negativity that is intertwined within the genre.
I hung on as long as I could.
What's wrong with glow sticking? I mean your just as bad as the Dub no Grime/dubstep people. True I think when the night should NOT start with glow sticks, but at two in the morning and the EDM is flowing who among us can say the tracks just don't move us....On that note I do agree that the scene is changing for the worst and all of these top 40 loving mickey mouse lovin' mofo's are polluting the brilliance that is darkwave.
Woe is the world we live in, cheers to the past.....but bring on the future!
Glowsticking is fine in general, IMO.
When someone is sitting there cracked out staring at glowsticks swirling....what the hell is that supposed to show this world about the EDM scene.
It only hurts the scene. It does not help it. At all.
Im confused...its Digweed in one of the larger clubs in CA...of course you will get a wider segment, including some mass market as well as the so-called washing machines, kids, etc.
Its like going to a "massive", expect the epuddles and what have you, specially if you have the Superstar DJs spinning.
I think this idea applies to all countries in the world, not only in LA. Or at least in the few countries Ive partied to...
thats why i dont go out to la events even though i live 1 hour away. You dont see too much of this at SF/SD venues. Plus you still see the beautiful people.
I had not been to Vanguard in a couple of months since I stopped promoting for Giant (although I was helping out Sat) until Sat. The "Micky Mouse" gloves they never used to let in as well as glow sticks. I know they were at least taking away the glowsticks last Sat. Not sure how people got them in to be honest. There is a lot of new security though.

| Peeps with glow-sticks can add an aura to a place, if done in style and for fun and not to get some type of roll of it. Why I don't think there's a huge issue with them being brought in. I think there should be rules on it, like no light shows in people's face who are staring at it all cracked out. |

This whole thread is based on a quote that IMO was untrue or overstated. I was at Vanguard from 9:45 until 4:30, going from patio to the back bar, to VIP and all through around over under and never saw a single glowstick, etc... Maybe I just wasn't looking for it or have grown to ignore it and enjoy myself over and above the petty shit.. but I feel vanguard does a pretty good job keeping the club for the "clubbers"

I was kind of just using the term clubber as in versus raver.. not in a positive or negative light, just a differentiating word.
I feel there's a time and a place for whatever people want to do, don't get me wrong. But a club is a club and rave is a rave for many very obvious reasons - And I'll rock 'em both!
Just let people have their fun.

Hm, the glowsticks dont really bother me as I like photographing them - but what really gets on my nerves is e-puddles. The first time I saw this at Vanguard was when Sander Van Doorn spun there a few weeks ago. Actually I ended up tripping over one of them. It upsets me that security at Vanguard is letting this fly. I mean, in the past I've seen people get kicked out for standing in a corner piss drunk. Now we've got cracked out kiddies sitting on the floor ruining the mood for others around them. I mean, this is a 21+ club... act mature about it. If your sole purpose to come to these is so you can "roll" and act like a retard stitting on the dance floor, then Nocturnal was last weekend for that..

Tell me about it...the EDM "scene" here is f*cking horrible. Half the enjoyment in events like this come from the crowd. These shows are supposed to be a communal thing and I'm sorry to say the crowd DOES matter.
Lets talk about some of the Socal EDM regulars:
Asians: I have many Asian friends. I use to hang around and study with normal Asian people up in UCLA. For some reason I don't see these normal Asians at these events. You got these FOBBY freaks who take so much E they sit drugged out on the dance floor. Its f*cking annoying...its as if they sleep all week and wake up Friday/Saturday night to come to these shows.
Middle Eastern/Armenian MALES: Whats up with these buffoons??? As Ferris described Cameron..if you shoved a coal up their asses you'd get diamonds. Someone tell these morons its a freakin' EDM show...get over yourselves geez.
Loner weirdos: I seem to see alot of goobers going clubbing by themselves down here in Socal. They usually stand out on the sides of the dance floor staring away at people. F*ckin weirdos
