Liquified - What is up with all the Thursday shows??

It is very frustrating to see all of these shows (9 out of 10) that are coming up on Thursdays. I mean really that is ridiculous. At least half could be planned for a weekend. The reality of it is that most people who have decent jobs are not able to go on Thursday nights b/c they have to wake up and be alert and aware to perform their career the next day. These people with money making professions are the ones that spend the most money at the shows. It just doesn't make sense that a person should have to either take a day off work or suffer the next day b/c they wanted to go out and hear the music that they love. Please do something about this!

Heheh, I hear you on this, sir. A substantial number of the vacation days I've taken this year were half-days on Friday mornings.

its all about the $$$$$$$. in this case it costs more to book djs on friday/saturday than thursdays.

Though I agree for the most part, it seems when the show is during the week, you get more people coming out for the music rather than just going for a weekend of clubbing. The people who really want to see that dj will realize that, even though they will be tired at work the next day perhaps, it will be worth it. The people who are just looking to get wasted and dance will most likely wait until the weekend. This is just a theory of mine, not sure how true it is. I actually prefer shows during the week though.

At least in Charlotte, PVDfan is correct. We have a BETTER crowd on Thursdays than we do on weekends.

Also, a lot of clubs will not allow 18+ on weekends, so for the younger crowd the weeknight shows are a boon.

Just my two cents,
Kevin SS

Being tired is one thing, but some jobs (or bosses) notice when your performance suffers due to getting 3 hours of sleep the night before. Then it fucks up your whole week if it's one of those shows scheduled on a Tuesday.

I just quit going to them.

Maybe when I have a job where I just sit on my ass all day I'll come back out on the weeknights

Well here is the break down or from what I can see why things are Thursday night.

Most events are done at OPERA now.

OPERA has other events friday and saturday

EDM nights are 18+ and thursdays because its their open night

18+ crowds dont do shit for drink sales as much as other nights would where its 21+ so they arent going to put EDM nights there because its just not going to make more money being a 18+ and Thursday vs Friday 21+.

And Opera is scared of loosing money so they wont gamble and also of losing their friday and saturday crowds to the less paying EDM crowds.

Its also a venue thing right now. With the closing of wetbar there isn't many Venues available in Atlanta for weekend shows that are up to par with the talent we want to bring in.

Who said these shows have to be 18+? It seems like every time I go see a show that's 18+, most of the kids under 21 are the ones who WOULD be at Opera on Friday and Saturday nights, just happy to get in because it's 18+. Opera attracts Opera crown no matter who/what is there.

Isn't Compound still open for "private" events? Could DJ's be considered such?

Also, whatever happened to Fever? I thought they were opening somewhere else, or that club would be used for something else.

1: eww the compound crowd is the the reason opera is what it is today.

2: Fever close down due to backed taxes or something that wes never paid or so I heard and that place sucked anyways.

Because Opera is probably the only one capable of hosting these dj's right now and they already have a setup for fridays/saturdays that works. They aren't going to change what isn't broken.

Agreed. I just wish some new venues that played EDM all the time would open up like 1150 did. (I know e50 didn't always have EDM there but it mostly did)
