Another high school shooting... (in Scarborough)

A teenager has been shot in the abdomen at Bendale Business and Technical Institute, a trades-based high school located near Midland and Lawrence Avenues.

The school, located at 1555 Midland Avenue, is currently on lockdown.

Reports from the scene indicate the victim is a 17-year-old male.

No I was refering to chopping your head off.....thats because if you can or try to take someones life....The law should take yours because there is no way in hell you would go to prison and spend 25 years with people with worse or if not similar crimes like you and then become a better citizen when you walk out of prison.

I only meant that honor killings (which I think are appalling) are part of the same set of standards that you suggest we revert to. You can't have one without the other.

I'm not confused about what an honor killing is.

I'd prefer burning at the stake...

Well taking someone's life in the name of revenge, religion, honor killing or whatever bullshit reason should be punishable by death if you ask me.

wrong. you can have a capital punishment without having honour killings, just look south of our border.

also, the honour killings you refer to aren't the generally accepted practice by the population of the countries where they occur, they are simply the product of remote, tribal, ignorant cultures that continue to persist today. while I agree that the government of those countries should take a stance and eradicate that sort of behaviour (holding them partially guilty) I don't think you can make a sweeping generalization like you have.

ps. Scarborough is badass, but I hope the victim survives

I think the original comment was more along the lines of "you can't have Saudi law without honour killings."

which is ridiculous, because honour killings (i think we all have the same def'n of what this means) is not in the Saudi law.

the death penalty is cruel and medieval if you ask me... I mean why can't we properly contain prisoners in chain-gang like condition where we force them to work in harsh conditions (jobs that people don't wanna do).

human rights maybe? (not that I'm happy with way the prison system is being run in Canada)

I wish all our jails are run like military prison in Edmonton. Trust me. You wouldn't get repeated offenders if you see just the video

If more people carried guns things like this wouldn't happen.

An armed society is a polite society.

unfortunately not available for public. (at least none that I've seen)

Club Ed (as it's known sometimes) is the only prison in Canada that allows prisoners to be put on bread and water ration. You're not allowed to talk. You polish everything. Your room gets inspected everyday. (and that's just scratching the surface)
Basically you earn the privilege of doing anything.
