you say that as if you've actually had to pay more to see him....

maybe its dif. up in NY, bt here in DC $20 is standard for Carl Cox.

Posted by badapple@trance on Sep-22-2008 13:18:

id check websterhall.com b4 goin, cuz they usually have it free b4 12 on their website for ppl 21+. Count me in for this one tho...woooo

It was $40 for advance tickets to Carl Cox @ Pacha last time. Granted he had Calderone with him along with Tattoo Detectives, things in NY just cost more.

And that was a night that I'm sure went well into the morning hours, whereas DC spots close early... So that means we get a lot of special extended sets (which maybe costs more to book )

pacha rips u off in genral, this is free before 11

Posted by AY STAR on Sep-22-2008 13:59:

yea plus pacha is madd shady
last year when i went for carl cox
i was on a reduced guestlist
and i got to the club like 11 and the reduced was good till 12
the line was moving soooooo slow
they had one cashier and like 2 bouncers searchin people
needless to say i got to the cashier at exactly 12 o clock
then bam they added another cashier and told me my reduced was no good no more

actually from experience, i think pacha and WH both ties in ripping ppl off. well maybe not WH per se, but its either false info being passed around or theres no communication to the bouncers/door ppl.

Clubplanet always advertises a guestlist free before 12 at Webster...then u go and as it seems like the bouncers/list holders are (purposely) clueless about it and make u pay reduced. This has happened to many ppl. If its legit, expect a LONNNG line and for the bouncers to be extremely picky about dress code if u are on the GL vs. ticketholders, esp with guys. but collared shirt and shoes should do the trick. my bf used to keep a pair in the car just in case, that is how many times we ran into problems.

if it was really free before 11pm/12am then the originator of this threaed should confirm it

otherwise 20$ is a f*ckin deal.

of COURSE its different in other areas! cmon, tickets may cost more here but they spin at least 4-5hrs after the opening dj. maybe a few yrs ago 20$ would be commonplace, now we only see these prices if the party is affiliated with local organizations etc. Average presale for a MADE EVENT is about 25-30$ right now. For Armin and PVD the tickets START at 40$.

Posted by rudeflame on Sep-22-2008 14:51:

last time i saw him was at fur last year in dc...and i was so disappointed by the lack of people that showed up...him and dubfire played a sick tag team set...

i def. think the crowd in ny will be better for this one

It's also a common problem with Clubplanet. They have so much going on, and so many listings and partnerships with clubs that one month, maybe there's free b4 midnight, but for a Carl Cox or Sasha night, they don't update their info for months. That's why I trust more individual promoters who only concentrate themselves with 4-5 clubs and know the info well, and not the automated and un-updated system CP uses.

u know, i am considering hitting this up, especially if i can get in for free. school's gotten me all beat up...i need a freakin' break. i have yet to experience Carl Cox in NYC. The one time I had seen him was in SF during the Lovefest afterparty back in 05 and he had only spun 1-2 hrs or so.

hmm im going to have to listen to a few of his more recent sets, any recommendations?
