Anyone ever turn their computer into a server??

I'm interested in doing this. Probably not my main computer, but an old computer or something, possibly. Anyone done this? Got anything to share?

What kind of server, and what are you looking to serve?

A server to host a website. Could a file server do that?

I dedicated a really old Pentium 2 PC to being a simple print server at my house. That one finally bit the dust though, and now have one of my regular PC's double up as one.

Your bandwidth won't handle it - unless you expect to have like three visitors at a time.

Yea. I have, many times. That's where I've done all my learning.

I started like 6 years ago I turned my AMD-K6 into a fully fledged LAMP server.

What are your questions?

What is your upload speed? I see failure in your future.

If it's just a simple website might be ok. But yeah forget about hosting files and stuff lol.

How does one increase their bandwidth by themselves. Without having to buy a service? Does one have to talk to their ISP for more bandwidth?

Can you make a computer a server exclusively to run the sasha pic?

Good idea. Have that pic with a Sasha set playing in the background, and simple comments section. Perfect!
