So the Guv WILL be replaced by condos?

Posted by VDub on Sep-20-2008 21:06:

I was under the impression that they were turning that block into a park...

Anyway, another 8 years on the lease I believe...

oh i definitely know the new stuff has been posted here before. however, i thought it was kinda cool seeing how the area has transformed in the past 100 years or so and how it'll keep transforming.

am I the only one who doesnt care that the guv will eventually be replaced by condos/something else..... its JUST A NIGHTCLUB!

its not like they couldnt easily rebuild the exact same place somewhere else or build a new and improved one.... its not like there is something really special about its current geographical location...

not by the TTC!

if you have a car then yeah! but i dont understand how people drive to a nightclub, unless they are going to be sober the whole time, which is no fun

depending on where you are coming from i guess. but in general, taking the subway down to union and then going 1 stop on the streetcar to queens quay with a ~5min walk isn't that bad. even coming straight from union is ~10min walk or a very cheap cab ride down.

huh?

There are 2 bus stops right at the corner of Jarvis and Queen Quay.

If that's too easy you can cross Lakeshore and walk 1 block to Esplanade and get a bus there.

OR you could walk 3 blocks North on Jarvis and Get the King street car.

OR you could walk to the 300 metres to Yonge St and get a bus there.

and of course lets not foget about the 2 subway stations that are under a 10 minute walk away. King and Union.

you guys need to relax!

Its a lot easier for me to get to FW on the ttc, thats is why I usually go there and dont make it out to the guv that often

It's not 'just a night club'. It's an experience, shared by no other nightclub in the city.

It's just the greatest night club in North America.. no big deal though The place is a bloody tourist attraction bringing in clubbers from all over the states including NYC

As for location - that's just another reason why it's so great. I love how Guv is so far away from Toronto's club district. We don't have to deal with piss traffic (boths cars and pedestrians) from other clubs to get to and from Guv. Not to mention the chances of getting shot by some rabid hip-hopper are significantly less. I like how Guv is in it's own little world - away from it all.

Posted by Jackn Funk on Sep-21-2008 15:02:

So there will be no parking around the Guv in the next couple years?
And residents above the Skybar basically across the street? I'm sure they'll enjoy the tunes from there at 4AM.

Just more anti-Guvernment propaganda...

Just go to FW...Don't ever go back to Guv....We'll all be happy....

Only an idiot would think that the location isn't perfect....

I am not arguing that the guv is not a great club, I am just saying that if the land was eventually bought by condo developer people, they could basically just pick the guv up and move it to another location (not into the club district) and it really wouldnt make that much of a difference

I find it funny how certain people on this board just totally freak out when someone says anything less than perfect about the guv... its just a nightclub at the end of the day
