Funny or Humorous folkways.
Anyone know of any Folkways that we do in culture that humorous, funny, or downright absurd?
I've got a small paper due tommorow about 'Funny Folkways' for my Sociology class, but I can't think of anything that's all that funny. Anyone want to take a stab at this one? Or know one right off the top of their heads?
I always found shaking hands (when you meet someone) to be kind of weird and pointless.

"God bless you," shortened to "bless you" comes from way in the past, in Rome (I think) when sneezing was a sign of illness. Of course, without proper medical techniques, illness usually resulted in death.

They bow A LOT, at least from what I've seen. Like A LOT!

I noticed.

Kinda funny because in western culture, if you don't look people in the eye when you're talking to them that's being rude. I still find myself looking away at people when I'm talking to them from time to time, and I'm almost a white guy |
