threadsurrection: Remixes that sound nothing like the original

Most remixes of Brainbug - Nightmare, which are based on the Sinister Strings mix. The original was a piano trance tune, only the horror breakdown was used in the remixes.

Most remixes of The Age Of Love - The Age of Love are based on the Jam & Spoon Watch Out for Stella mix(they have that angelic synth choir breakdown that wasn't in the original house version), and the Marc et Claude mix was remixed from the J & S Sign of The Times mix(percussion breakdown), making it a remix of a remix of a remix.

Deadmau5 - Arguru(Progression mix)
Walsh & Coutre - Capes and Knives(Oliver Moldan remix)
The Movement - Jump(Holographic and Second Dimension mixes)
No need to repeat anything about Ayla, Madagascar, or Born Slippy.

The DJ Cactus remix of K90 - Chemical Love sounds nothing alike the original mix. Awesome tune.

Thats probably the Kid Vicious remix of Punk.

I think the SHOKK remix of Altitude isn't that far off the original, especially when compared to some of the other tracks mentioned in this thread.....fucking tune though!

Not really.

Lighthouse Family - Ocean Drive (Blue Amazon Dub)

A three minute pop song becomes a seventeen minute epic and the only bit they used from the original was a snatch of vocal texture that was put through a stutter.

Every single remix of Deetron - Let's Get Over It.

None of them sound a lick like the original other than the vocal.

Posted by wolftickets on Sep-23-2008 02:50:

Vengaboys - Kiss(DJ Jean Remix) sounds even less like the original than the Airscape mix. At least that version was in the same key and had the same bassline(albeit half speed), this one should have been considered a stand-alone DJ Jean track. In fact the Southside Spinners remix uses nothing of the original either.

2 Unlimited - Jump For Joy (Armand's Dutch Touch Mix)

That's Van Helden, in case you're wondering.

Alice Deejay - Will I Ever(Dutch Force remix)
DJ Mellow-D - @ Night(Dutch Force Remix)
Ian Van Dahl - Castles In The Sky(Perfect Sphere Remix)
Ayla - Ayla(Pronti & Kalmani Remix) is actually an Ayla Part II remix mislabeled.

yeah but is'nt the hole point of a remix ment that it's completly differant to the orginal? And if im not rong when asked to remix the track it's ill advised to keep in context of the track you are mixing no? its what you do to it that counts.

The point of a remix is to show the remixers' view of it, how he/she/they feel the track should sound and be like, no matter whether the remix is similar or something totally different to the original.

to true but i still think remixs are a waste of time because why spend all that effert on some one's track that was not made by your own hand's and try to conect to there interpretathion of the orignal. dont get me rong i love the insperathion of a track enough to want and put my own inprint of the track ive heard, this often leads to anougher persons idea of what it should be, not what i wanted to get from the remix in the first place.
