Finding a desk that doesn't suck

Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a new desk for my gear that suits my needs and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I thought about building my own but between work and going out I don't see myself having the time to put into building it.
The only issue I have when getting a desk is my mixer. I use a Rane MP44 where all the cables plug in from under the mixer (Link). This presents a problem for me getting a table as most desks are designed for mixers where they sit on the desk, obviously mine can't do that. I am currently using the SKB DJ Shuttle (link). All the desks I found online that have a slot for a mixer like mine are crazy expensive.
Any suggestions?

Why don't you modify a desk and have the mixer tilting out @ like 30 degrees or something? Not that hard to do:S You could use the cut out peice of the table and cut that to the right angle to cover/support the mixer sides.

It's not that I can't do it, it's just an issue of time. But the way its looking it seems its my only feasible option.

I don't get it. How will a rack tray help (sorry if I'm being dense).

That mixer is really a rackmount one so if you want to have it flat on a desk you have two options: It will take you an hour to either cut a big rectangular hole the in the desk......or to build 2 x triangular(ish) supports to rest the mixer on, so it sits above the desk with enough space to plug in your cables. If you don't want it too high, then you can always get rightangle TRS, phonos, IEC and XLR's.

I keep all my gear in a road case most of the time so what I did was go down to my local hardware shop and get a folding aluminum work bench/trestle thing and put my road case on that, it cost AUD$50 and is the perfect height, stable and I can fold it down and take it with me to gigs. so it has worked out perfect. it even looks the part as it matches the aluminum parts on my road case.
