Techno in Orlando?

Going to Orlando for a week in November and have never been able to find good places there every time I visit.
Any recommendations?

TIA

For Techno? Probably not, but Firestone Loft on Thursday is good for house music... Suite B always has some good sounds on Monday, Friday, Saturday.. Not much really happening.. Check out the events thread, some good stuff in November..

While we're here... do you think Orlando could support a techno night a la Snatch @ HPC in Tampa? Considering the rise of techno all over the country, I'm sure Orlando will follow suit... What do you think Ben?

After Deadmau5 had the crowd going to some good techness lest night, i think we are almost at that point.. Alot of my friends are all playing tech-house out now.. I think we would just need an HPC type atmosphere + Three or a similar resident to keep consistent talent coming..

Even a local promoter who would bring some small techno names would be a good start. See if you can team up with some of the Miami people, they've been getting a lot of sick techno down there. It would be awesome to book these guys thurs/fri/sat in mia/orl/tpa.

Damn, not even a small lounge with locals? Wow, we really are spoiled in NYC. I guess I might have to take couple of days to go to either Tampa or Miami.

Um, Deadmau5 is mediocre at best. His music reminds me of 2004 prog. Never understood why there's so much fuss about that guy wearing a stupid mouse helmet.

Wishful thinking that orlando will bring in consistent actual techno. At least with the majority of the promoters pushing commercial house still in control.

Believe me.. I agree.. I just was saying that he was playing some techno which people were dancing too.. Which is a big step forward for Orlando..

You guys are spoiled as fk in NYC..

Don't be so sure. Soon techno will be a fad just like electro and it will be everywhere. The problem is the quality of techno will be so poor you'll wish it never came.

Posted by DiegoParra32 on Sep-24-2008 03:25:

I doubt it man. Most people I run into here that are supposedely "in the scene" don't even know who deadmau5 is. We'll see though. I hope i am dead wrong.

I agree but mostly cuz it's Mickey land and clubs close real early in Orlando.

Did you explain to them that he's the douchebag who wore the mouse head @ Ultra?

I bet you they'll go "ahhhh"

Posted by DiegoParra32 on Sep-24-2008 13:43:

Offtopic(by the way Mel. I'ma be needing your help. I'm going to Ny with my g/f for a week for my bday in nov and would like to know where to go in terms of great venues and quality techno.)

you want techno. you want it all night long. you want it loud. you want it all the time. the demand is out there. how are we going to solve this problem?

you know, back in the day, people that all wanted a type of music not offered anywhere else got together and formed what's known as a "club". just like people that like to play chess they form a chess club. if you get 100 people together that want to sit and play chess all night into the morning, i dont think the county would give a shit. but if music is playing and people are dancing it becomes a whole other story?

life is short, get organized!

Srsly! Here in NY there are so many locals that just throw their own party @ some little bar or lounge and they end up being the best parties in the city. I'm surprised no one has taken the initiative before.

BTW, Diego, I know techno in NYC really well too

I'm willing to invest money into starting a night somewhere but I don't really have the manpower or contacts to start one up. The talent would be the easiest part. Its getting enough people to come out that I see the problem.

What places do you recommend in NY chaska?

There must be another board for FL that promotes more techno and other genres, isn't there? Here in NYC we have rhythmism, which is waaay better than TA to find parties that are not shit and commercial trance and house.

Well, you would be happy to know that techno is the easiest to find here in NYC. There's Bar 13 (That melly loves too), The Bunker in Brooklyn, and a bunch of locals parties everywhere. Made Events (the biggest promoting co.) has been bringing in a lot of techno for the past year, so they'll prob have something good coming up for when you are here. When are you planning to come to NYC?

Posted by DiegoParra32 on Sep-24-2008 22:43:

November 9th till the 17th. I was kooking at the schedule youguys have and their wasn't anything on there for that time period yet. Its all good though, I'm more interested in the local talent to be honest.

Posted by Chaska on Sep-25-2008 01:19:

Paco Osuna is @ Cielo on November 14th

I'm sorry, but fuck the locals on this night, Paco brought it during Minitek weekend and worth seeing anytime you get the chance. I'm considering moving my trip to one week later.

Ok guys, so can I has techno in Orlando? Get your shit together!

I know some people in Orlando who could probably help you out if you are looking for a venue & a nite.. Doesn't take a whole lot of manpower to flyer downtown Orlando either... Just time..

The other half of your promo would all be online via myspace www.nohatersbbs.com www.enation.org www.8up.com & here of course..

Thisisnightlife is a good one but mostly for south florida.

You are in the middle of the state and it's a complete different scene up there.

Diego - when time get's close.. we'll talk. I'm sure more parties will be announced. Sucks you won't be here for Nov 1st. Kyau and Albert and Ronski Speed. They played last December and it was one of the best parties of my life!

Cielo is def my #1 fav club in the world. You should def go and check it out. Saw Paco play @ DEMF but he wasn't my fav.

sweet mel. I'll definitely check him out. I'm not really into trance so don't know how much i would have enjoyed k&Y and ronski speed although when I did listen to trance a lot I enjoyed their productions a lot.
