T - 1 month for... GOOGLE PHONE!
hype hype hype.
I have T mobile and had it since I was 15yrs old. Yes I've had the same number for that long plus the one year that it was my fathers phone before that.
I can not wait.

| Google phone to cost $179, debut Oct. 22 - AP The first cell phone running Google Inc.'s mobile software looks something like Apple Inc.'s iPhone and has a large touch screen, but it also packs a trackball, a slide-out keyboard and easy access to Google's e-mail and mapping programs. Google made its debut as a cell phone software provider Tuesday at an event where wireless carrier T-Mobile said it will begin selling the G1 phone for $179 with a two-year contract. The device hits U.S. stores Oct. 22 and heads to Britain in November and other European countries early next year. The phone will be sold in T-Mobile stores only in the U.S. cities where the company has rolled out its faster, third-generation wireless data network. By launch, that will be 21 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami. In other areas, people will be able to buy the phone from T-Mobile's Web site. The phone does work on T-Mobile's slower data network, but it's optimized for the faster networks. It can also connect at Wi-Fi hotspots. The data plan for the phone will cost $25 per month on top of the calling service, at the low end of the range for data plans at U.S. wireless carriers. And at $179, the G1 is $20 less than the least expensive iPhone in the U.S. Sergey Brin and Larry Page, Google's founders, made a surprise appearance at the launch event. "It's just very exciting for me as a computer geek to be able to have a phone that I can play with and modify and innovate upon just like I have with computers in the past," Brin said. He said he'd written an application for Android already: When a user throws the phone into the air, the program records how long it takes until it lands, using the phone's built-in motion sensor. Brin acknowledged that the wisdom of including such a program with an expensive phone is dubious. "We did not include that one by default," he said. Page said the mobile phone industry, which sells 1 billion units a year worldwide, was a tremendous opportunity for Google. Google is giving away Android, the software that underlies the G1, for free, and opening the operating system to third-party developers who can create their own programs. Google hopes that in turn, mobile phones will provide even more ways for people to interact with the company's advertising network. |

I am pretty interested in this....I've been considering a personal phone for a while now. More for data than anything else really.
And lol at Nachos trying to be the zinger but actually being the zingee.
CHEUH!
I still think Google will eventually become an evil corporation and end all humanity.

Does anyone know if I can use mobile websites like "meebo" to use "data" for aim instead of aim through the phone where it'll count as a "text message".
I'm looking at data plans and I want the unlimited data but 400 text messages/aim.

no. You cancel out any other services when you get the data plan. I think I'll just meebo online or other mobile messengers. it's 25 for Unlimited data and 400 messages.. My unlimited messages are getting x'd out when the phone comes.
I just didn't wanna pay the 35 for unlimited data & messages if I can just sign online to save a less than 100$ phone bill a month.
Also thinking of doing a family plan with my boyfriend when his phone comes too. So excited! We both pre ordered the phone
it's funny how tmobile and at&t all seem to have similar business models, have exclusive phones with exclusive vendors but provide crap service.
i like my old bb curve with great service - i stay sprinting
Who cares about the google phone, its all about the new htc touch hd
To bad its probably going to be madly expensive, around the 800 euro range. Still, some things are worth the money.

I've been a loyal T Mobile user since 2003 with my dad and on my own since 2005. I have zero complaints with them. Only thing is their phones suck... Till now!
sprint since 01, loyalty discount of 23% of monthly bill for 450 everything plan...yes everything

I have been a T-Mobile customer for 5 years now. Love it. Have no complaints except their 3g adoption rate.
The no keyboard bothers me a bit too, since i play a lot of games on my mobile and i just cant see playing games in which you need buttons on a touch screen. Then again my friend recently bought a touch dual and he had Age of empires installed on that one. I basically stole his phone and played the game until the battery wore off
Still i cant live without my NES, SNES, GBC and GBA emulators, they need buttons so that's why i still prefer the Nokia N90 even despite its lack of touch screen.

The screen is to small on that one, also i cant get used to the buttons on the right side after you tilt the phone, they just take too much space. I still prefer and find more useful the slightly bigger (i think) screen on the E90 than a touch screen.

Not much, but if you're wieving wep pages alot, those few extra lines count quite a bit
And its not the overall quality of the buttons that bothers me but the placement. I'm just can't get comfortable with the screen positioned on the left because of those buttons on the right. Feels funny when typing.
