How is Ruby Skye?
I've never been to Ruby Skye before. I really want to go this Saturday to see Deadmau5. Should I get my tickets online or can I just line up at the club to get my tickets? Does anybody know how this event will be? I'm new in town and I don't know how the scene is here in San Francisco. Thanks.
most newcomers enjoy their experience at ruby skye. it has the potential to be one of the best parties in sf, especially on spundae's long weekends. it remains one of the hottest locations for headliner talent and tourist draw in the city. the staff and bouncers are very professional, efficient, safe and there's really nothing to complain about as far as the details go (they take credit cards, ins and outs all night, no search, powerful a/c, powerful eaw sound, sick thematics, lots of 24 hour diners around, downtown location, easy parking, indoor smoking lounge, early bird guestlists, etc). on big nights such as deadmau5, it's cheaper and more convenient to buy presales. you get in fast with a ticketweb print out just by handing it to a bouncer out front. if you don't buy presales it's always better to show up by 11 before the lines get long or the cover gets raised. if the sound is too loud for you, they have free ear plugs at the bar too.

Re: How is Ruby Skye?
if you live nearby go check it out friday- posted a guestlist up on a thread. Pre-sales usually stop the day before the event, so get it today. They were at $20 yesterday, $25 now.

go check out this friday sept 26th...cosmic gate...guestlist on spundae.com
I went there for the first time to see Above and Beyond a couple months back...the place is pretty big with good sound...the long was really long which I hear is unusual for Ruby Skye.
To many douchebags, sound way to loud.
Drinks prices to high.
2oclock powerdrinkers leave at 2, place thins out.
When you finally get a drink, be prepared for some moron to come and spill it all over you.
Carpet all over the place.
Dj booth sucks.
Cant get a drink if you tried.
Security is so so, and will charge you to get on stage to get next to a dj.
Security does not check people for weapons.
Too small for my taste.
All the hot chicks are with their douchbag boyfriends or even worse, girlfriends.
Dancers are hot bodied, but have fucked up faces.
Bring an extra 20 for parking, actually 40 so you can eat if you get hungry.
Theres alotta other clubs to check out in SF, and undergrounds.
Props to Ruby for getting SOME great Djs, but place isnt all that.
Cosmic Gate doesnt sound like Cosmic Gate anymore.
Welcome to San Francisco leo037

ive come to like the club. its not bad but not my favorite. oh and since were talking about RS, upstairs should get headliners much like Avalon.
Ruby Skye's cool but definitely not my fave. I think the biggest thing for me is that it is a 1 Room Format.
Sorry guys, I can't call the smoking room another room. I just can't. For me, when I go to a Nightclub, part of the experience is checking out multiple rooms. That's part of the fun.
But RS is definitely one of the "Nicer Looking" Clubs in the city with their decor. Certain nights, you might run into a crowd that is not that educated with EDM. I actually don't really mind this too much but I know alot of people hate this so take it for what it is.
And sometimes they have these "Crazy Clown Drummers" that go CRAZY
which is pretty cool....
But I'd say it'a a place you definitely have to check out if you are from out of town.

i went once. It was way to loud, but the ins and outs thing was dope, we dont ever get that opportunity in LA.
But its a nice club, and Spundae consistantly books top notch talent. But its more of a meat market crowd as opposed to the music loving rave crowd of 1015 IMO.
Thanks for everyones info. Its much appreciated. I technically live in Las Vegas. But I've been working in the Bay Area since June. So I go back and forth to Vegas a lot.
But I've been getting really antzy to listen to some good house music, so I heard that Ruby Skye is the place. I really need to listen to some good house music already or ill go crazy

Personally I didn't like it. The only thing that impressed me was the entrance into the club. The lines were horribly long (even though I had a presell) and I had to cut in. The sound was horrible. Bass in your face all night but that was all. It was cold as fuck in the front because I guess the AC comes from the bottom. The room itself was horrible and I thought the set up sucked. I didn't like the feel of a seemingly deserted theater room that we were partying in.
A+ for the laser tho. lol.
there can be good nights, there can be bad nights... if you can't manage to have a great time at ruby skye even once, then you fail at life.

Been there several times, each time has been at least a good night. Best night there for me was Digweed last Labor Day. Great energy, good crowd. Halloween was great too (even with Donald Glaude spinning).
Definitely a main stream place. Although I would like a more mainstream club in LA. The cracked out scene at Avalon and Vanguard gets old.
