totally worth the one day up to toronto. he confirmed yet again why he is my favorite. stayed until the last note of mind circus which was HARD since i am getting too old for these 7am parties! oh well i got a nice little 6 hour workout .

it was nice meeting all the totas that i did meet

too many tunes to pick a favorite but loved the stuff like full tiltin toward the latter part of the night...kept me going.

Awesome times with awesome people.

Was my first time out to Guv in a loooong while - it was a gametime decision...And I'm glad I made it out.

Headed down with Smuncky at 11:30ish and got in pretty quickly. Surprisingly, it was my first time being there since the reno's. I like what they did with the bar and the booth. Very cool.

As for Markus, yeah he rocked it. There were some amazing surprises in there as well - Cass & Slide - Perception (Too bad it was the dub mix), Bedrock - Heaven Scent, a nice array of mashups (Can't Sleep, Space We Are). Some people were saying he was all over the place, up and down - harder, then lighter. In my opinion it was one of those sets where the Dj was just working the crowd - And Schulz did a hell of a job. (That Arnej track with the 3 huge buildups...WOW ) Kept me moving till about 5am when I had to call it an evening.

Was really awesome to be front and centre again with some awesome people. (I did kind of forget about the sketchies though lol).

Good times, and after 3:30am, when the crowd spaced out a bit, it was a great vibe in the mainroom.

Can't wait to see some pics - cellcams don't match Alex's "7 Dimension Capturing" Camera.

wowowowowow AMAZING night!!! Great vibe, great friends, and SO many great tracks...only thing I wasn't feeling (and neither was the rest of the room b/c the energy felt like it was just lost for a bit) was that speaker slipup, for awhile the bass just wasn't loud enough.
But overall, NO other problems with his set what a fantastic night!
Nice to meet some TAs I hadn't met before and of course, partying with everyone again...see you all at Marco V/Cosmic Gate!!!!

Tune of the night for me was sunlounger - lost which he played towards the end. As always it was nice hearing without you near on the big system.

I love how he looks like a total geeky bedroom dj behind the decks dancing around and loving the music he's playing just like we do when we're spinning at home.

All I wanted to hear was lost, but I left too early I guess

Posted by d-form on Sep-28-2008 17:24:

Yeah he played it in the last half hour when the dancefloor was a wasteland of empty bottles and water was dripping on the last 100 people in the place. It was awesome. Those vocals give me the cold shivers.

Posted by kvn on Sep-28-2008 17:27:

i wanted to leave at like 6am but i NEEDed to hear Lost so i forced myself to stay til like 6.25 n still no luck so i left... stupid stupid stupid! arrgghh, hearing lost wouldve been the icing on my night.

a/x hooked it up pretty big though.. free cover, no lineup, got in within 2mins of getting outta my cab.. whole booth behind the dj with free drinks too.

Posted by electro88 on Sep-28-2008 17:31:

song of the night is definately Arnej - They Always Come Back , Lost is just another cheesy vocal song

It was a good night overall, everyone seemed to be having a really good time which is the most important thing.

To be honest, I agree with Drew when he says that Markus was doing a good job of working the crowd because they were clearly loving it. For me, I just could not get into the set. The flow just did not make sense to me. Sure, he covered alot of ground in terms of style but the programming just was not there. Anyhow, he was always enthusiastic and never hesistated with fans, so for those who enjoyed it, I'm glad for you.

Big respect to everyone, especially Sean for the VIP + everyone who was there.

P.S.: Did anyone else see Chuck Liddell sketching out on the dancefloor!!!?!?!?!

My adventure began with getting absolutely totally fucked up at the Argos game. I don't even remember who won. Somehow lost my cell on the way to Guv, pretty sure I left it at the cab. Oh well. Needed a new cell anyways, so I have the... encouragement to get a new one. But I digress.

Almost got denied entry. LOL. Well, still managed to get in later. Then the headache kicked in. Ohnoes.

Found the TAs up front and chilled out to the sound of Mark Oliver. Been a while since I heard the man play and he did an adequate job. Life would suck without a good opening DJ.

So Markus hits the deck and he played all trance. D'oh! I was hoping for more proggy set but ah well. Life's not perfect. Very trancey set. Kicked it up a few notch with some techy tunes sprinkled in the middle just to change things up a bit. I didn't think there was anything wrong with his track selection and programming, as he was reading the crowd very well. He was having so much fun on the decks. That man sure loves Toronto.
His mixing was pretty good, but very simple. I guess because he had 6 hours would drag on some transition for a while. Eh

Although he did play Big Sky (UGH!) and Can't Sleep (BLECH!), singalong to vocal trance can be so fun. Daydream! In the words of Tyler, fa kin su pah! Wish he played the vocal mix of Perception because that's what everyone was probably familiar with (and probably would have brought the club down) but the dub mix still rocked. Never heard this absolute brilliant classic in a club before so definitely worth the price of admission right there.

The crowd was typical Guv crowd, though wasn't bad as last week. Or maybe I was so out of it that I didn't pay attention to these things. Loved partying with TAs and meeting few new ones. Sorry if i can't remember some of your names because I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Shit). Best part was TAs being front and centre... and staying there. Been a while.

By 515 came, the headache felt like 10 monkeys were having sex in my head and I wasn't invited and I was actually feeling hungover. So called it quits and went home.

Overall I was very happy that I made this trip, even if I'm so paying for it today. Schulz delivered a pretty decently crafted trance set by reading the crowd to near perfection, setting the vibe that last throughout the night. Although I didn't get to hear the prog I was hoping for, house will get me grooving, but nothing gets me dancing like a good trance set.

Overall: 9/10

random thoughts
-Argos game was pretty fun, but nothing like a Toronto FC game for atmosphere
-saw a man dressed as a pirate on the bus station. skeeeetch!
-Bay St was closed for the marathon. Saw lots of cops blocking off the streets. Asked one dude, 'what sin did you commit to be up working at this ungodly hour?' lol
-holy shit people were smoking weed like a grow op just gave out freebies. if i got tested right now, I'd probably in jail. annoying weed smell!
-one of the best pleasure about being a TA is meeting new TAs and partying with them. since when did we lose focus on that?
-good to see people I haven't seen in ages
-I'm never doing a Guv event drunk again
-what was up with the sound again? although you could actually hear the highs and the lows, the bass was too freaking loud again.
-lasers were less used and less overpowering, but still used adequately for a pretty damn good show
-sorry guys if I wasn't very... socialble. like I said, my body wasn't cooperating

When I heard that track coming in i said to my buddy that it was getting a little gay. Then the freakin bass and kicker came in and I had to retract that statement. Pretty heavy track.
