Anyone get frustrated in Mega Man 9 Like Jeff?

Haven't bought the game yet, but will probably do so today. Played the demo, and I was getting owned by the 3rd Elephant

Yea, man. When I beat the Elephant, then I'll probably buy the game

Game of the year so far. I usually just spam the elephant with shots from the Splash Trident, seems to move faster than the default Mega Buster and does more damage.

And what sucks is, once you finally beat it, you'll spend 15 more seconds to get to the boss...and the demo ends. You don't even get to fight him. It's like walking across an entire desert to get to a 7-11, only to see that its closed.

The word 'owned' never tasted so bitter

Jeff gets frustrated by (in that video):

Hornet Man (scissors) -> Splash Woman (spikes) -> Galaxy Man (grabbing robot)

Been playing this title since the morning it came out. Haven't had much time but I've got 60% of the challenges list completed. The game's not too bad. I think Mega Man and Mega Man 2 (on Hard Mode) are more challenging, actually.

Still, no end boss comes close to the frustration of the Mega Man 7 Wily final form.

My MM9 story (from my LJ):

quote:
The 22nd of September seemed like an ordinary day when I woke up until I went on Joystiq to find out MEGA MAN 9 was being released on WiiWare that morning! There was no release date set for the US but we did know that the JPN release was that day. What a great way to start the day EXCEPT MY WII IS IN MY HOME OUT EAST. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. Threw on my Say Hello To My Little Friend Mega Man tee for the occasion and hurried on over to Port Jefferson. The moment I parked in the driveway, I dashed into the house, purchased some Wii points and began the download. Didnt even feel like unloading my packed car until I was sure I had MM9. By some awesome internet connection that day, it finished in under a minute and I was ready to play. At this point, responsible Yan kicked in and I understood that I had to empty my car and make some order in my room. As soon as that was done, generous Yan took the reigns. Theres this general Anime/Gaming club at Stony Brook in our Union building. The room they (nearly 200 members!) inhabit is quite large. Within it, one may find a dozen couches and nearly as many TVs (not to mention a large manga and DVD library). Why do I mention this? Well I decided to bring in my Wii for those people who left their Wiis back home and couldnt get their hands on them until their next return (which in some cases is Thanksgiving WAT). I quickly watched the intro to the game before unplugging the system and lugging it over to school. Seems like only one other person knew MM9 was out that day. I mentioned to some of my friends that I had the game and I was instantly ushered over to the second largest TV in the room (the first being assigned to anime viewing). Before I could even plug it in, there already was a crowd of people waiting to watch. This crowd would grow to 30+ people as time went on. Every time I beat a boss, applause. Then once more to the voting of who to tackle next. I got through the game in about 4 hours due to really poor luck with boss weaknesses and just general exploration and laughter. Many people, myself included, ended up skipping the classes for the day to enjoy the game. Once I was done, I handed over the controller to other people who created their own save files and went on their merry way while I grabbed a late lunch with other friends. Before leaving school that night, I beat the game once more, this time in 2 hours. Since then, Ive beaten the game twice more but have had the hankering to play it nearly every day (which I couldnt afford to do since one day is enough to give me quite a bit of work). Ive got 60% of the challenges list completed but am slowly working on getting the hardest achievements.

You're the same Yan he's talking about?

Megaman 8 was the sh!t for Sega Saturn, it felt like I was playing a cartoon but hey it was '96. Too bad I won't be able to play this one

Downloaded Protoman Mode and Endless Stage Mode the other day.

Beat Protoman mode in 2 hours and 4 minutes on my first playthrough. Endless stage high score is currently at 83 screens.

Playing two hrs straight is a long gameplay for megaman isn't it? Maybe because of the difficulty. Er, I still need to buy this game.

correction, i found the demo for ps3 and am playing it now
the 8-bit is very nice. the megaman 2 menu music is appreciated too. i was curious if it's 8-bit through the whole game or if it gets up to today's graphics standards at any point? i thought it would just be like an even better megaman 8, but it's like megaman 2

There's a MM8 demo on PSN ?

Posted by CONNERMAN2000 on Oct-09-2008 02:23:

I was about to say...dizzy, don't you mean Mega Man 9? Though it'd be all kinds of badass if Capcom re-released all of the Mega Man's on the PSN/Live. That won't ever happen though.

Beat the game as Mega Man in 40:30 yesterday. Messed up a few times so I'm going to try and shave that time down some more.

The playthrough with Proto Man was pretty long... but that's only because I was enjoying myself and had to create some new strategies to tackle the same obstacles from before. After all, Proto Man, while having the ability to charge his shot, slide and use his shield, suffers from taking double damage and getting double the knockback. And that's not to mention that there was no store to purchase any items from.

no there isn't, sorry for the confusion i worded it wrong. when i post replies here from work i rush the replies sometimes and don't word them properly, in fear of getting caught haha

what i was getting at was remembering MM8 from back in 1996 for the Sega Saturn and PS1 and comparing it to MM9 (since MM8 was the last regular Megaman to be released). i remember the style of the graphics for MM8 was like playing a cartoon, in other words it had cutting edge graphics for it's time.

i was expecting the new MM9 to be something along the same lines but was surprised when i saw that MM9 is more close to MM1 and 2 (except including Rush and all the characters from older Megamans). i was curious if the game is actually 8-bit through the entire game? i do think it's cool to play a new game that was designed retro like that but at the same time i can't help but think what could've been had they gone with a more anime style game instead of 8-bit
