Modern classical/piano
Who do you like?
I'm a big fan of Thomas Newman and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Was just listening to the American Beauty, Shawshank Redemption and Babel soundtracks.
Anyone have any similar suggestions?
yeh, Newman is great, I'm pretty partial to Nyman as well and recently been getting into The Flashbulb (on the advice of people on here) and thats pretty great too.
Also, Michael andrews is great, especially his work on Cypher.
EDIT, and the word great when your not really concentrating is great too. Its especially great when your mixing a DJ set at the same time...
If you're mainly looking for piano-based (modern) classical, I recommend Ludovico Einaudi - Divenire. Brilliant piece of work. Also Dustin O'Halloran - Piano solo's is fairly decent.
Other modern classical stuff (not too much piano though, I like other things more) I've been listening to a lot lately includes
Max Richter - The blue notebooks
Rachel's - Music for Egon Schiele
Olafur Arnalds - Eulogy for evolution
Johann Johannsson - IBM 1401 - A users manual
If this is up your alley, I have some more titles at home.
I'm open for more recommendations. Expect a mixtape from my side full of stuff like this in the not so distant future.
Been listening to this kind of music lately.
Jacaszek
Peter Broderick
lafur Arnalds
Rafael Anton Irisarri
All recommended
Will see if I can find some more as soon as I get home.
