self defence is not fighting. tell me please what is so important to be worth an assault charge and pretty much the end of any professional career and chance at a normal life for it.

For once, I actually agree with you. What's the fucking point, unless it's self defense. Assault and Battery will not make you cooler or more manly, and it won't help your "street cred" either. It just puts you in jail for a few days and adds some unnecessary shit to your public record.
