Spanish Techno DJ's/Producers

Okay, so imo (and I am far from an expert on this) German DJ's rule the techno scene. But I've seen the trend that Awakenings (in Holland famous for it's techno nights, i.e. the nights @ Westergas and of course Awakenings Festival) is booking more and more Spanish DJ's. Some of whom I was already (somewhat) familiar with, like Pig & Dan, Christian Varela, Alex Under, Paco Osuna and Oscar Mulero. But now I see names along the lines of Tadeo and Pepo for instance. And then there's also Tania Vulcano and Christian Smith.

Is Spain, after Germany, the country with the highest standards in techno? Or is this maybe just a trend in Holland? And yes, I'm omitting all big techno DJ's from other countries and therefore, you may burn me to the ground.

But anyway, a discussion would be nice.

And also, since (as I mentioned) I am somewhat familiar with the DJ's I spoke about above, I would love to get links to sets that you believe to be their best.

I was thinking "what the fuck is this guy on about, Alex Under is Russian!", and a quick check on discogs reveals there are two, the Spanish one and the Russian one.

The Russian one makes some awesome deep progressive.

Cisco 'Advent' Ferreira is Spanish... I guess

Posted by GrimReaper on Oct-06-2008 12:15:

Cisco Ferreira is of Portuguese heritage but moved to live in London with his family in the mid 70s and has since stayed in the UK.
