ok..say you had the skills, youve got 80 minutes to work with, and you are making a demo w/ your vinyl, what would it be? Now dont lie and say youve got tracks you dont, because that will just ruin the fun of it.

So what would be on your Demo?

This tracklisting is EXCELLENT! Congratulations!
You've chosen exactly the kind of tunes that I think are the best. I would have chosen something similar. Aria - Dido is a great intro, and tunes like "Where Are You Now", "Fiji", "Carte Blance", and "Parker & Clind - Generator" are super-strong anthems.
Again, an excellent choice!

Hi Kid_Lax,

I downloaded your mix and I'm listening to it right now. I like the first transition A LOT, very good. The transition into Carte Blanche is a little rough, not with your beatmatching (which is good), but rather phrase matching, and bass mixing/key mixing.

I have Carte Blanche on Vinyl so I know from experience that, that song is hard to mix into and out of because of it's constant running bass line and strange key. It is a really hard record to mix into, unless you mix from and into two very "thin" songs. Anyway, if you would wait about a phrase (32 beats longer) longer it would mix better.

This reminds me, another famous tune that's really hard to mix into is Dutchforce - Deadline. It also has constant-running bass and it starts up immediately, with no intro.

yeah that mix brought me a lot of trouble, i was getting so annoyed because the kicks kept cancelling out everytime i tried the mix (luckily it was early on in the mix ) making the mix a lot more noticable than i would want

there's another mix later one that i had trouble with, again with the bass line, the mix into 'where are you now' pissed me off because i cued it wrong and the bassline kicks in 32 bars after i would've liked it to...i was too aggrovated and tired to go back and fix it...c'est la vie hehe


j_spot: that's one of my alltime favourite tracks, just keeps building and building and building
a record store here in toronto actually jsut brought it in a couple of months ago, so i pounced on the oppourtunity to grab it
and yeah its on UK Bonzai Gold (there's also 2 other tracks on it, can't remember the names off hand and my crate is downstairs)

im planning on actually taking time on a new mix and actually try to engineer it properly, and record it at a higher quality
though i plan on making this one have more of a tunnel trance force kind of sound, don't know exactly how to describe it though

Hey Kid_Lax...I havent Listened to your mix...But When I saw the Tracklisting I was amazed...I mean the tracks are a bit old...But the Weird thing Is I used to play that sort of set...I do infact own a copy of every tune you mentionned exept the Grace - Not over yet '99 (Matt Darey mix) ...Which I do have on MP3...I didn't think It was Good Enough To purchase on Vinyl...

Anyway...Nice Choice...Even if it is Just a neverending Bunch of Balads.

Interesting stuff. I'm trying to get my demo done these days, but I still can't pull it off without at least one trainwreck.
It's nice to see people using older tracks in their demos too, because I know my tracklisting contains a lot of old stuff.

i got it on the tidy trax double collectors edition (2x) for $10 aust. which is about $5 or so american. mint condition also.

not a bad tune
