LOVEFEST.....how was it????
Since I suck and had a show in portland last night, I couldn't make it but i have gotten 5 different text messages from people saying it was of epic proportions! Talking with ATB Friday night, I could see how excited he was to take part in this and man oh man I am freakin ticked off i missed it
Jono dived into the crowd and I have it on video! Was a beautiful day, no rain, pics soon...sleep now
Dude, that was the best damn lovefest of them all. We got there at 3:15, circled around the floats to the local love and met up with a few SFTA's. Hit up the spundea float at 4 and met a lot of LATA's for the first time. By 5 I was stumbling. Hit up 1015 and got more sloshed. Now its 6:42am, feeling half sober and ready to do it again in 30 minutes at endup.
It was awesome. I had more fun at this Love Fest than any of the others to date. Tunes were great, floats were awesome. It was such a nice day, we got so lucky with the weather to have all that sun and no rain! Hope everyone took lots of pics, looking forward to seeing them.
I am alive.
Thank goodness.
Best LoveFest EVAR! So many people! Think i twas way past 100,000 peeps this year. It was shoulder to shoulder to the far corners of civic center plaza!
Only downer is I forgot to turn my work email off on my phone and my battery died before the festival was over. Battery dies within about a day if I keep the email on. If I turn it off and only turn it on when needed, phone will last a few days w/o issue....stupid me.
Gotta send Michelle back off to SoCal soon (whaaaaaaaaa!) but then will be trying to see what's going on later today before Ferry tonight! Before I ship myself off to Tokyo tomorrow!

It was fun
Wasn't able to make it down to lovefest until late afternoon, my girlfriend didn't want to get out there early and I didn't blame her, this is actually one the the first years we haven't been working at the parade or after party so it was nice to chill out for a change.
As we approached civic center the sound could be heard blocks away and since I live up hill from civic center we had a good view of the crowd which was massive... wall to wall, corner to corner, the whole place was packed! First stop was the opel/qool float where syd gris was throwing down some sick progressive and funky electro tracks but it doesn't matter what Syd plays his music is always fresh and inspiring... we stayed for his whole set because the music was rockin and we ran in to lots of friends there.
After that we walked around for a bit and ended up over at the Spundae float, not sure who was playing but it was so packed that there was no way to stand in front of the float so we just hung out on the sidewalk for a bit, getting pushed around by drunk and messed up people before deciding enough was enough and we headed off to get some coffee around the corner.
Starbucks was swamped with festival goers, it actually looked like a raver invasion! man I wish that I hadn't left my camera at home because it was a sight to behold. a line for the bathroom stretched out the door. there were easily 20-30 people in line for the bathroom alone. the store manager was trying his best to police the line because the bathroom was for "customers only" but it was futile, no one was paying attention to him... the poor employees looked haggard, it was like their first day on the job or something... they were clearly not prepared for a day like the one they had just experienced but they managed to take our order and we got our caffine fix before heading back to the spundae float.
As the sun was close to setting some of the crowd had started to disperse, making a little room in the crowd off to one side of the float where we found room to stand, kyau and albert began their set just as we arrived and the crowd was going crazy. Before long we were surrounded by friends and people we know from the clubs here in SF and it was fun to see everyone and share the experience! above & beyond followed KvA, the music was great and time just flew by... cell phone communication was a disaster, I suddenly had over 30 txt messages dumped on my phone that people had been sending me all afternoon and clearly some of my own outgoing txt messages had been delayed as well, we made a beeline for an exit right as a&b finished their set, and headed off to Chevys a couple blocks away just in time to nab a booth. Score! Darin Epsilon and Dj Samer joined us for dinner and kept the conversation interesting. the service was terrible but Chevys was so crowded I really can't blame them, the staff was clearly overwhelmed.
Over all we were only at lovefest for a few hours time but it was jam packed with great music and lots of friends.
We had a great time... I hope everyone else did as well!
This day was so much fun. My first time ever playing on a float and it was alot of fun. Had a hard time seeing the display on the cdjs from all the bright sunshine ( thank god it didn't rain ) and yes, i know i look a little over excited ha ha.
watch Dave T in the background, smoking, drinking and blowing up balloons all at the same time.. mad skills i tell you !!
video 1, Playing my new track JET, released on Lunatique end of Oct.
video 2, Playing a remix of the classical Bedrock - "Heaven Scent"
that me and Mike EFEX did.
You know it was a good LoveFest when you wake up on Sunday not remembering how you got to your motel but remember dancing to Cafe Del Mar by ATB.

Lovefest was a blast. I had a great time. Yeah, it was cool dancing to Cafe Del Mar even though it was played twice. Saw some dude O.D. and had to be carried out by a stretcher. It was pretty crazy. But yeah, I had an awesome time.
So it was mainly trance? Not much house?

Hey, does anybody know what the last track (I think it was a vocal?) that Above & Beyond played is called and by who? I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help me out....

Do remember Above & Beyond - No One on Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Remix) towards the end of their set (when Dave Dresden came back up and joined them), but not sure if it was their last track. I forget.
What happened to ATB? I thought he was supposed to spin after Armin on the float.
Well, I'm not exactly sure if it WAS the last track either but, it was towards the end of their set though. I can't really remember either. It's not "No One on Earth" though.

Re: LOVEFEST.....how was it????
It looked like Lovefest was promoted very well among younger people. It can only grow bigger. The festival site should make use of a few more block next year.
But what about the older folks with money? It appeared that people over 21 were the minority over there. I guess the organizer should think about how to attract them to the festival for next year.

it was awesome.
Pure Madness and mayhem. Nice turnout this year. I've been doing this for the past 4 years now, and each year it continues to grow. I can't believe how many showed up this year. It was so hard to make your way around - everywhere. I was hoping some people would have changed their plans due to the threat of rain.
I've got to give big props to the BA DnB crew. They had a huge float, massive sound system, and it seemed like a large crowd out front the entire time. Didn't know the BA DnB scene was so huge.
Local love was off the hook. Everyone threw down. Even blurr playing "castles in the sky". Ha ha ha. Nice one bro!
Spundae/skills was going crazy as well. I didnt catch a whole lot of the sets over there this year. Simply because last year I hung out there most of the day - decided to venture out this year. But the few sets I caught over there were insane. Donald Glaude ripped it up - and Armin did a good job closing things out. There was also a really fat crowd out in front of Spundae all day.
exhausted and destroyed... Wednesday evening to Monday morning was a bit too much but it was fun!
S.O.S. at the official after party & SKILLS/Spundae float and every Lee Burridge set the past few days were the best! I really want to see Omid 16B solo! Thought he was the most technical and creative of the three even though Demi was the only one to use the efx1000 plus already seen Demi and Masiello solo -- the best for last? And I had a really good talk with Lee last night at Mighty, Anthony Papa couldn't make it so he filled in. Even gave me a track I was looking for but was only available on vinyl

Trance at the official after party was boring cept for a few tracks that A&B (happen to bump into them Sunday at a sushi restaurant) and K&A played... Seriously ATB & AvB were a snooze fest. I would of gone to KONTROL after SOS but I'm not trying to spend too much and was tired and ready to just crash too but had to wait on two friends so stayed until the end
Elite Force had a fun breaks/electro house set at the Opel float and the breaks at the Beats float was pretty good too
It was nice to bump into known and new TAs and old friends too! Saw a friend who I have not seen in about 2 years at Get Weird! Freaking ghost!
oh and didnt make it to the actual parade again!
ok back to work *sips his coffee*
Amazing Bird-eye view on the event...
