Open for bidiness...

A little something I've had in the works for a while...

Posted by Mortyman on Oct-07-2008 12:54:

So you're teaching people to spin vinyl?
I will always think vinyl is the best and most fun way to dj... but turntables are almost obsolete now (not quite, but getting there), don't you think you'd get more business teaching both analog and digital?

And where?

I know a man with about 300 records, decks, mixer, tuner etc that would love to know how to play properly....

westside 4 life

can you teach me how to spin the needle on the equalizer phono pre amp?

Posted by PivotTechno on Oct-07-2008 13:26:

ER, I'm out in the west end (obviously), conveniently located near Dundas West Station.

And I hear your point, Mortyman, but I've been playing with vinyl for 25 years, it's a medium I believe is worth preserving, and in this case, the medium isn't half as important as the method - check this for further explanation...

Nice to know there's another TA who's spun as long as I have

Let me know if you need a phonograph DJ to help.

Now that's oldschool!

You look like you need a good quality earphone with that setup, though...

Nice - I don't have any pics of my old setup, but I had:

2 X

+ 1

...though my best friend and I actually started using one turntable and a cassette deck, splicing tracks together to make our first mix tapes. Talk about time consuming!

(of course for the school, we'll be using two 1200s and an A&H mixer)

Posted by junkie_vince on Oct-07-2008 20:54:

wow! I had the same realistic mixer, one turntable very similar to yours but a jvc & a open face tape deck without pitch control that I used to slow down by rubbing my finger on the reel. I still have them all.

Posted by Yohan on Oct-07-2008 20:56:

jeez some of you are ancients in this business

Note the square piece of paper in the lower rh side... it was a chart that counted bpms... you counted how many beats in 10 seconds on your watch, and the chart tells you your bpm... very handy.
