Well, actual techno is very repetitive. DJ Rush and others who spin hard techno generally have one main beat with minor variations throughout the entire song. The problem is that EDM is generalized into "techno" and people automatically think it all sounds the same.

I've listened to edm for 5 or 6 years now and it still all sounds the same
