I predict a 3-2 win for Toronto - Detroit will still be too busy looking at their new banner all night.

I also heard that the Wings aren't playing their entire lineup. They have are going to be playing a bit of their minors to get the feel of a real NHL game...

Cause you know, the Leafs aren't really much of threat.

man i am going to enjoy this maple leaf season.

So wouldn't it make more sense to save them for a "real" game?

Posted by StereoPrincess on Oct-09-2008 18:53:

an actual leafs fan should start the thread for the maple leafs.

so that when they lose we can go in a legit thread and harass them.

Not really because you need all the points you can get.

Playing your young players against a decent team might jeopardize 2 points. However playing them against the leafs will give them some experience while ensuring that the 2 points are still possible.

Posted by elFreak on Oct-09-2008 18:54:

i am a huge leafs fan.

they provide me with many lulz.

with the salary cap rules, what you are suggesting is not very possible...especially since the wings have no cap room.

I agree, it was more a joke about the not "real"ness of the Leafs as an NHL game.

what are you referring to when you say its not possible?

Posted by elFreak on Oct-09-2008 19:18:

the younger players have 2 way contracts (minor league vs nhl)...the only time their salaries do not count towards the cap is when there are injuries or they stay in the minors.

detroit hit the top of the cap with hossa. It is also not in their best interest to dress young players in limited nhl games, because it will make them eligible for unrestricted free agency at an earlier age.

if they are not going to use them regularly, they are not gonna use them to lose them.

Q: The Stanley Cup was recently on tour in my town, and I kissed it. Do I have to worry about being infected by listeria?

A: You are safe. The Stanley Cup has not been in contact with a Maple
Leaf product in over 40 years.

not even that funny but needs to be dropped in this thread.
