Girl Talk

Anybody a fan? I'm going to see him tonight, and I'm pretty pumped actually.

He's obviously not a dj, but does anyone have any idea if he does his sampling live or if he just pushes play? His shows look like a lot of fun regardless, as the music is pretty creative.

That was actually really cool

I love how the chick is trying to sleep behind him.

i dislike the guy and his music

opened for him a few years back. just played a prerecorded set and acted like a doofus. musical content was questionable imo

Hate the music I've heard from him.

Posted by enydo on Oct-10-2008 23:13:

Dislike him a lot honestly.

thread title vs. thread content was complete failure.

not happy.

Posted by lawrenceq on Oct-11-2008 02:37:

i thought for a second his artist name might be "girl talk", kinda like M.A.N.D.Y. lol

Posted by daphunky1 on Oct-11-2008 03:50:

I find his music annoying, though creative.
However to generalize, I don't really think that people like us who like long, repetitive, vocalless music would be the type like this "talented top 40 bar dj"

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Oct-11-2008 15:33:

Eh, it was fun. It was mostly pop music, but that's what we expected. We just mainly wanted to go to see a shitshow and dance around a bit. Played Paper Planes twice, so I was happy. My friends and I were entertained by identifying as many samples as we could, which was a pretty high percentage of them.

isn't this pretty much the same as what dj shadow did ten years ago?

More commercial though. It's more like what 2 Many DJ's do, or a less underground Diplo. It was more about the spectacle than anything.

Who was really only doing what Mario C did 10 years before him.

I really hate when people default to DJ Shadow comparisons as if he was the first artist to ever sample anything else to make a new track.

The amount of credit people give him for being an "innovator" is absurd. Eric Clapton is a brilliant guitarist but it isn't as if he created the guitar, the blues, or rock music.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Oct-11-2008 17:48:

Yeah....Stevie Ray Vaughan did.

Damn straight, you trifling ass bitch.*

*Note: I really wanted to use the phrase "trifling ass bitch" today.

hmm i wonder what he will do when his computer boards the fail boat.

No but it's true though. I totally am a trifling ass bitch.

Girl Talk is ok, SPEAKY is hardcore awesome though with the commercial stuff.

There was all this buzz about "Girl Talk - Feed the Animals", which isn't Girl Talk's album, it's Speaky's, and it's pretty awesome.

diplo's in town on the 28th, and girl talk's in town on the 30th. I got a chance to see Diplo last year, but I think he's getting myt money again this time.

I've never heard of anyone having a bad time at a Diplo show. Not my thing, but everyone I know who is into them is absolutely mental for them.

Diplo is just one dude.

edit: You trickass nigger.

That is exactly how out of touch with this whole "mashup" business I am.

All I'm hearing is "Cluck, cluck, cluck!"

For the record, I only thought the first video was cool. The other two are just borderline pathetic. What a fucking wanker.
