I caved!

My buddy got me to cave in buying an Xbox 360 for Fable 2, GoW2 and something else, and now im a proud owner of all 3 systems.

Alright, gimme the essentials, I've got money to burn, and great games to conquer. The first person to tell me any of the Halo games, will be the first that I will locate via GPS, and throat punch via the nutsack.

btw, im a big RPG/adventure guy, so tell'me what i've been missin out?

Provided you don't have a PC that can run them better, definately get;

-mass effect
-bioshock

And if you liked GOW that much you might also enjoy R6 vegas, which seems to focus around a similar cover system, plus it doesn't suffer all that much from the console fps syndrome seeing as the gameplay is pretty arcade-ish compared to previous R6 games.

Call of Duty 4

Just an FYI to all you fun loving ps3 owners out there, bioshock will be out for the ps3 the 21st of this month

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-10-2008 23:31:

Dead Rising was a favorite of mine. Assassin's Creed wasn't as bad as people say. And Mass Effect was dope.

Bioshock all the way. You can get it for $20 these days if you look around.

hahaha, what a piece of shit system, I played a game briefly for like 10 mins, noticed a decent amount of noise coming from the xbox just reading the game, so when i tilted the system a bit to hear where the noise was coming from, all of a sudden my the xbox went crazy and scratched up my NHL 09 so badly I cant play it anymore. So my first expierence with my xbox 360 is that it likes to scratch up my new games.

Hilarious.

Angrier than a wife who just heard her husbands secretary name yelled during sex. Got a new one, gonna lay the system down and give it another go. Lets see if I can make my left winger!

Out of the 'best' games listed here, all are available, and are better on the PC

There are some decent JRPGs on the 360 though.

LOL next time turn it off before you move it. If you tilt it while it has a disc spinning it will fuck your game up every time.

So true. That is why I don't have an 360 or a PS3, but I do have a ridiculous gaming rig with blu-ray/hd-dvd and a 24" widescreen.

The 360 has excellent games, a state-of-the-art online interface, user-friendly dashboard, and one of the best controllers ever made.

...But the system is an utter piece of shit. If the console isn't making a ridiculously loud buzzing noise when playing games, you might be treated to random freezes when navigating the dashboard, encountering a Red Ring of Death (ultimately resulting in a useless system that no longer turns on), or perhaps a complete lack of connection with Xbox Live, despite a fully functional ethernet cord plugged into the back. The physical aspect is the one thing Microsoft really fucked up with the 360.

lol define ridiculous?
Been meaning to upgrade now. My 22" widescreen is...ok. Still running on my 'old' 8800gtx now, thinking of picking up a gtx280 around January, with a bigger screen and newer CPU.

Posted by Sugarbean on Oct-16-2008 02:26:

bioshock is awesome but there's a better version coming out next week on the ps3... improved graphics and more content...

this ones an old xbox game but a great rpg that you can play on the 360... star wars knights of the old republic...

Playing Crysis at 1920x1200. Once I throw in another video card to run crossfire I'll be kicking serious ass, but right now I haven't run into a game I can't run near maxed out.

Holy geez. I can run it ok at 1680x1050, and not on Very High.

hahahaha did the exact same thing and I ruined NHL 07 back then... fuaakkk never move the system when it's running.

Bioshock is fucking boring btw, way too slow.

Get Gears of Wars and FIFA.

lol.

I never really understood people who spend fortunes to get these monster pimped out systems just so they can turn every single option to the absolute maximum. Oh well, I guess I've obsessed over dumber things in the past.

I can run crysis at medium-high on a 500$ rig and I'm pretty satisfied with that.

Did you buy a new 360?

yeah, picked up a new 60gig bundle and got another nhl 09 to replace my first one, so far so good now. Just picked up Tales of Vesperia, and got Fable 2 on pre order. I really like the xbox live features compared to the ps3 online store, alot more to look at and browse around for.

If you have any more problems with your DVD drive make sure you take it back immediately and save yourself the headache.

I've been fortunate - I've only had one die on me, and it happened after having it for 3 years. Replaced it with a newer model with a BenQ DVD drive, and absolutely no issues since.

Paid $1100 including close to $400 for the 24" widescreen. But it isn't about turning every single option on. It IS all about not having to upgrade for a few years.

The last gaming box I threw together lasted for about 4 years before I started having trouble running current games forcing an upgrade to a newer system.

Posted by Project-K on Oct-17-2008 18:44:

Bah, I really doubt games in the next five years or so are going to change anywhere near as much as they did between, say, 1997-2002 or 2002-2007. Hardware design is reaching it's limitations in some areas and things are somewhat slowing down. I think if you have a decent machine now that can run crysis well, you should be set for a long time. I don't really see the point in planning too far ahead considering that the hardware you're purchasing now will be significantly cheaper in several years (when it might actually make a difference).
