there are so many factors that can go into this. what baffles me is what line of thought was used to arrive at the endpoint of "versus" and "nikita". when you name a club you're creating a brand. you're given a blank slate with which to go in any direction in all of language you want to. the potential is endless, but the purpose is to generate distinctive appeal. this is achieved through descriptive language that conveys vivid imagery and associations. names like "versus" and "nikita" lack this impact. they are words that tell me nothing and just aren't very interesting or creative. they are in fact confusing when you go to think about what the promoter was going after. the fact that there isn't any ostensible connection between the name and what it represents leads me to believe it was picked out of a hat or something. that's just my opinion.
CLUB WASHER! Wait that's taken by...never mind.
CLUB JENNA?!

As stated above, the name really doesn't mean much. Especially if it is a new name and not part of a chain.
Sam Nazarian's SBE Entertaiment stands for Sammy Boy Entertainment. He's known for remodeled every 6 months are so. Area was called Prey, which was Gate before Prey. His newer venues include names such as Hyde, Foxtail and S Bar. The Abby (gay bar) is expanding to other cities. His new luxury hotel line is called SLS Hotels. Curious to see what he does with Sahara Hotel (expected to complete 2011). He has also said he would like to built a hotel in Dubai.
Its kinda nice that Vanguard hasn't changed it's name. With the right amount of money and vision, I'm sure Vanguard's can do well in other cities like NY, SF and Miami.
I'm sure much thought goes into a name, but at the end of the day, it is what the venue delivers not how interesting the name sounds.
i agree, the name of the club doesn't mean much. it could have though.
Status, and people would be paying out their asses as well
My club would be named "Cielo" or sky/heaven in Spanish.
When all else fails, just name it after your address.
Hell.... I just happy that Circus is still open after all this time...lol.
You can call it "shit hole" and I would still come for my weekly trance fix!

maybe it was sarcasm?
Allegro or Tempo
Someone should name their club 'The Club,' just to make it interesting when people's friends call them, asking them where they are.
I'm so witty
