dead space (all platforms)
so, reviews are starting to trickle out now and they're overwhelmingly positive. scary, atmospheric and intense. there is a little cloud over the mouse support for the PC according to 1 magazine (of course, thanks fuckers) but im sure even if that is true, it'll get fixed.
in stores 23rd oct i think. scary movies are lame after you've played a really frightening computer game

looks awesome...a combination between Resident Evil and Bioshock..only in space
The comics are pretty cool. Although I think I still have two episodes that I have downloaded but not yet watched.
I don't particularly like games of this sort, but this looks particularly well made. Maybe I'll check it out (provided there's a demo of somesort). I'm somewhat concerned that the third person perspective will make everything significantly less scary.
It smells like shit, and looks like shit. So it must be....

I'm not a big survival horror/horror game guy (though I loved RE$), but early reviews have me curious.
I still probably won't be picking it up.
Saving my pennies for Fallout.
I had never even heard of this game. Now, everyone is raving about it. Gotta try it out, hopefully a demo at some point.
Im not necessarily a fan of "survival" horror, but AvP, doom 3, condemned etc all scared the shit out of me, and I really enjoy the intensity of such games. then again, im really easy to scare!

I'll admit AVP made me jump. Condemed made me feel mildly uncomfortable at most.
Like I mentioned earlier, looking at dead space, I don't think I would find it a very scary experience. Obviousely, devellopers were trying to maximize scary feeling by removing all the hud and menu systems in an effort to make it as immersive as possible, but the third person perspective is completely contrary to that philosophy. I don't know about you but when I play 3rd person shooters I feel alot more detached towards the character, and the horror genre is all about attachement. Not to mention, being able to see around and behind you brings a certain sense of security that's a bit out of place.
yeah, i definitely agree. first person is much better. but ive never really played a 3rd person horror game so i dont know how that will feel.
man, i reckon my loudest ever scream of terror came playing condemned. eek!
Ugh another game on the list of amazing october releases...

the resident evil ports have been truly awful on PC, and silent hill has yet to be ported (though i believe the new one has been). im not much of a 3rd person gamer to be frank.
Was watching a friend play yesterday and I gotta say the game looks very, very cool.
The scariest game of all time would have to be Silent Hill 2 for the playstation 2. If Doom 3 makes you jump, SH2 will make you tinkle.

| Originally posted by Capitalizt Silent 2 is ok..but the monsters sucked. Their animation was weak and unrealistic. If you really want a scary game, pick up the Resident Evil remake for the Gamecube.. |
