Call of Duty: World at War

Anyone seen it yet? Just played the beta on my roommate's xbox and it is FANTASTIC! New perks, vehicles etc... I totally thought I would hate the switch back to WW2, but that is not the case anymore.

No, I haven't but I also was writing it off due to the WWII theme. The vids and shots I'v seen look pretty damn good though.

Does it have a similar online mode to COD4 with the perks system and all?

I was under the impression that the online experience wasn't going to hold up to COD4 because Infinity Ward isn't developing it, or are they?

It uses the same engine, and plays almost identical to 4, but it has more perks and weapons (including a flame thrower?!). There are also more game types.

When people bitched about CoD World at War going back to WWII, I'm pretty sure they did that without even seeing the game. It was merely a gut reaction due to how many WWII games have flooded the market in recent years, and the fact that CoD was once a franchise that contributed to said flood, but were proactive in setting the series into a new age. Now that the game has reversed back to its roots, people see that as a downgrade rather than an upgrade.

But just because its a WWII games doesn't mean it will wreak of ass. I have hopes for this just like I have for every other CoD game before it launches.

Not even gonna bother with it. I was sick of the franchise by the second installement. #4 was relatively well executed, but otherwise a bland shooter. I wonder how many times they can re-release the same game and have everyone jump on like a bunch of sheep.

Is this going to be available on the PC?

^ I would think so!

It's made by Treyarch, the guys that made CoD3 and that was rubbish. I don't hold much hope for it.

I'm waiting for CoD5 where Infinity Ward will be back in the hot seat to deliver another blinder of a shooter.

After playing the beta for a while, I've decided I still like CoD4 better. W@W is still pretty sick though.
