11-7-08: Marcus Schossow, Lizard Lounge, Dallas

I have to say, I haven't got a good first impression on this promoter, Violet Groove. Maybe since she's new, she'll learn how to correctly book a lineup and handle business the right way (not going into detail). I can't believe she put herself on the lineup (Neon Tiger) when I just heard her try to beat match for the first time a couple of weeks ago. *shakes head* It was at a birthday party, it was really slow and empty, so she convinced the guys that were playing it to move over and teach her. Dunno if she gets on TA or not, but there are my first impression thoughts so far. I just hope she improves and learns more about the local scene someday.

But oh hell, Marcus is a friend of mine, so it doesn't keep me from going to see Mr. White!

she looks like she's still in HS so pedobear would approve. And I think you like little girls, so for you - yeah.

It's just odd to have this girl not be in the scene at all and just appear out of freaking no where to put on a big show. She knows nothing about the local music scene or anyone that dj's here. And I guess she thinks she will learn how to spin in under a month enough to perform at a major club in Dallas.
It was cute to watch her get so excited if she beat-matched correctly, the tracks would start to get off again while she was still in the middle of her touchdown dance celebration. lol

I wonder if it's secretly sponsored by Wet Grooves since I heard they were trying to get to some more cities lately. it's just odd how she came out of nowhere all of a sudden, so i wonder who is really sponsoring it. It may just be daddy's money, though. If so, I hope she gets better business-wise.

yeah, i heard she made an appearance at KIK, too. I was there, but it was so packed to really notice she was there. quite a few of the dj's she has already ticked off were there, and they definitely took notice. I believe this was her first time to meet and listen to James Warren play. and so another last minute change to the lineup (again). I guess she thought the crowd was pulled just because James Warren played that night, and not the fact that it was TX/OU weekend on lower greenville. James Warren is a badass dj, but I don't think he could pull that big of a crowd on a normal night.

ya, theres no chance of me making this show. all the ppl i want to see play, play the next night in a better venues. shit, that would mean 3 weekends straight of LL.

oh I'm definitely going to this. This is the first time Marcus is in Texas. I've been hoping for him to come down for a long time now. Won't be missing this.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why would you put a block on being able to send you MySpace Add Requests?

If someone has to go through the trouble of finding out your last name and/or e-mail address to send you a request... they won't bother.

Actually neither of those matter. Most local DJs can't DJ. Being able to beatmatch doesn't equate to being a good DJ either so to me it is the same thing. Some DJs I know are technically excellent, but I wouldn't care if they just did radio fades between songs because their programming and selection is just that strong. And the converse is also true.

i met neon tiger at sasha, really nice chick. hope her party turns out great. funny how this big rumor got started on all the boards about her mixing skills.so basically she is a beginner and everyone is going to be standing around waiting for the slightest fuck up. i cant imagine playing like that.i really hope she makes everyone eat shit. i will not be attending. dj's that run around on stage like a chicken with their head cutoff, stand on the decks during every track isnt my cup of tea. this isnt the only reason im not going, never planned on it.

You know this is tomorrow night, right? You can do both! I might make an appearance just to support James and Locklear. Not sure yet.
