DAVID GUETTA | Thursday November 13th 2008 | 18 and over

Liquified & Opera presents
Thursday November 13th 2008
Atlanta, GA

Featuring for the 1st time ever in Atlanta

DAVID GUETTA
(gum records, virgin, France)

There are few DJs in the world that create the reaction that David Guetta sparks. Whether it's 50,000 fans singing along to his hit records at the recent massive Stade De France stadium Unighted ber-party, or dark rooms of clubbers locked in the groove nine hours into his set, Guetta gets passions flowing. That's because he uniquely and boldly treads a tightrope most DJs wouldn't dare to traverse: the line between being an underground DJ and having huge crossover success. To see Guetta wind a room into a frenzy is something special. With an unrivalled connection to the crowd he'll direct them like a puppet-master, driving their hands in the air as he works CDJs, EQs and effects in a way that sounds more like someone using Ableton. That's something that has escaped a lot of people: technically David is one of the most impressive DJs in the house scene. Almost remixing records live, he makes loops, slams tracks together that you'd never think would go and uses vocals over other instrumentals. His sets are so dynamic that at times it's difficult to see how he can keep the energy up. To put it simply, Guetta creates moments. And that's why when you look out over one of his crowds you see smiles and hands shaped into heart signs. When you give people a night to remember they love you for it.

David Guetta was probably my favorite DJ this year .. he killed Miami's Club Space this WMC ... I will try my best to hit this show, but if I dont make it, I will be at space when he plays along with Erick Morillo on the terrace late november ....

For those who havent experience David Guetta, I would highly recommend this event .....

I know I don't have the knowledge of the booking process that you do, but I've always wondered why you have to "work on" getting a dj to play longer? If they are there, why can't they just go on whenever you ask? Are they just greedy?

But anyways, Guetta actually seems pretty good for a house dj, so I will see if I can't go. He had to have become popular for some reason, hopefully he is really good.

Almost all big DJs work under a contract........everything is listed from travel, accommodation, compensation, Equipment that DJ request, so on and so forth....

Not many of them are gonna work for free if contract only ask them to play for "x" hours for "x" amount

Exactly. Consider it a script of a play that is actually a legally bound document.

That's what I kind of thought. It is a little bit based on greed then. If I was a big dj and I was already at the venue and I knew the fans would appreciate a longer set, I'd do my best to do it.

You need to look at the bigger picture to a touring DJ. You need to factor in the ending a gig the night before at 3:00am, getting to bed at 4am. Waking up at 11AM getting ready traveling to the airport, catching a flight. Flight time, arriving in the next city, transportation time to the hotel. So figure it is now 5 or 6 pm when you arrive at the hotel of the next city. A lot of these guys have Radio shows, interviews etc that they work on from the hotel. Then they need to eat dinner and get ready for the gig. With all of that its hard to start earlier sets. So it takes time to find out if they will have the extra time to start their sets early or not.

That's true. I understand that. It's just when it's a money issue where it gets a little iffy. I guess we do have to look at the whole picture though.

Honestly its not a money issue with the guys at all, not sure where everyone is getting that from. Its all scheduling.

Posted by iammesol on Nov-08-2008 21:34:

So in essence - when you work on getting them to go on earlier, you're planning a safe and scheduled time in Atlanta? Props! Never thought something as simple as that could go a long way. But it is true that I would feel much more comfortable as a performer if I knew what was going to happen before I got there.

Posted by romz on Nov-09-2008 01:14:

Is it true that Guetta is one of the most expensive dj's to book? I heard he charges in upwards of 40,000 euro a gig. Is this true?

Posted by Liquified on Nov-13-2008 13:30:

Get ready for a MASSIVE night tonight!

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-13-2008 16:31:

Is anyone going to this? I'm not really a fan of Guetta but I'd like to go out tonight...Just wish it wasn't $25.

Posted by Liquified on Nov-13-2008 21:29:

We only have about another 100 presales to go before advanced tickets are gone. Presale is set to cut off at 7PM but we dont expect to make it till them with these last ones.

We have held 200 tickets to be sold on the door so if you have not got a ticket or dont get one of these last 100 we advise everyone to show up early to get in.

Thanks
Liquified
