Do you like Mega Man 1 through 3?
If yes, then yes - it is worth it.

It's the exact same style and everything.

i hated mega man 2 because of the stage in wily's castle where the crash bomb was to be used.
yeah the old style is pretty fun. no sliding or charging of the mega buster right?

Indeed. Perhaps later on as DLC, but very old school.
Also, fun fact: In college we used to compete as to who could beat MM2 in the least amount of time - I'm fairly sure the record stood around an hour and ten minutes.

Proto Man Mode has both charge shot and sliding. He even has a shield that is used when you jump (and don't fire) that reflects and blocks some shots. Unfortunately, he gets double damage, double knockback, can only have 2 bullets on screen at once and there is no store to buy stuff from (and therefore no screws are dropped/lie around).
MM9 is $10 for the Wii. Proto Man Mode (DLC) is $3 extra.
This coming Tuesday will be the new DLC:
Hero Mode, October 20, 100 Wii Points: "Play the game with a more difficult level of enemy distribution. Not compatible with Rankings or Challenges."
Superhero Mode, October 20, 100 Wii Points: "Play the game with a super difficult level of enemy distribution. Not compatible with Rankings or Challenges."
Special Stage, October 20, 100 Wii Points: "Gives you another Time Attack Stage to try, including a new Boss at the end! Results will be displayed in the Rankings. Not compatible with Challenges."
I'm fairly sure the boss will be Bass.
