Atlanta- NYE 2009?

Who is coming?

Posted by nchs09 on Oct-16-2008 04:41:

Ill be out of town

Posted by mixitup on Oct-16-2008 05:28:

not exactly a DJ but check out sound tribe sector 9, they're playing 4 nights at the tabernacle, might like their stuff. I can tell you it will be a party, and the after parties will have some killer music too

most likely. I'm interested to see what it's going to be though. Liquified NYEs are usually pretty sick when everything goes to plan.

No new years eve show for us this year in Atlanta. I've decided to take the year off and head to the mountains with family and friends.

Posted by iammesol on Oct-16-2008 17:07:

In that case have a good vacation, Devin.

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Oct-17-2008 00:59:

looks like we are going to have to venture outside state lines if you want a decient EDM event this NYE.

I was thinking of either Miami or maybe something out in Cali ?

any takers ?

Hope ya have a good time though Liquified!

But shit, I'm going to have to scope out other cities now and scrape together some cash...

Tiesto in NYC...
TAO in LA...
Anyone know what D.C. and Miami have planned?

9 hours?! That is insane. If there was anyway I could make it, I would go. That would be a show. I don't care what you think of Armin, you have to respect a 9 hour set. I don't even know what that would be like.

9 hours is pretty routine for guys like Vath/Garnier/Tenaglia/Howells/Burridge.

And they usually do it without the "assistance" of light shows and "live" vocalists.

And they also do it without playing any good music too. haha. Had to say it.

But seriously, what's wrong with some light shows and guest vocals. Adds something extra in my opinion.

My main concern is if there's light shows and guest vocals it probably means I'm at an Armin show.

Well inherently there's nothing wrong with it... BUT from what I've seen, the guest vocalist aspect is usually quite atrocious. Take for example the clip I saw from the last Armin Only or something, that one chick singing Big Sky. She was awful. It was obvious she had barely any musical talent and Armin actually cranked the sound up to cover up the vomit that was spilling from her mouth.

Now, this may not be the case in all scenarios, but from what I've seen, it usually is. As for light shows... I really have nothing against it, I think visual components are important to electronic music to an extent, it's just at trance shows it seems to get a bit... much. Just my opinions, of course.

I think most would agree that the live vocals and visuals for our Underworld event were pretty awesome.

Also, wouldn't the psy-trancers definitely win this debate? It's my understanding that some of their DJs regularly spin for 24-48 consecutive hours.

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Oct-22-2008 19:13:

48 hours straight? WTF drug does that require?

Posted by trancension on Oct-22-2008 19:22:

How does me pointing out Together As One is going to have Armin spinning all night at the main stage degrade into this

I believe it was because I said how awesome it sounded and since there are a lot of Armin haters on here, they started the hating. Or maybe not really hating, but pointing out 9 hours isn't that much. I still think it is awesome.

So anyone know if Miami is having a high profile Trance DJ?

have you seen any of these marathon set's by these djs? b/c i have and i have to strongly disagree. guess not your style of music, we all have our own taste, but i have seen burridge spin many marathon sets and the man just gets better and better each hour and there is no way you can touch sven vath, saw that man spin a long set at amnesia in ibiza, best set i saw out there, it was complete madness!

also it sounds like Rank 1 will also be at the Armin only show, i believe last year they played live but for only a short time. i was in atlanta, as i spend every holiday back home so i wasn't there. but if you get a chance to see rank 1 do it, so great!!!!

anyways, sorry to hear there won't be a liquified event this year but totally understand the need to vacation with the family.

I agree, marathon sets are always for the win. I dont care who it is, if they keep playing, it keeps getting better and better.
