Interviewing Danny Howells

I'm asking this in COR because I think there are smarter people in this forum than music discussion.

So, probably going to be interviewing senor Howells when he comes through LA this saturday for RA.

I've got a list of a few directions drawn up, but I was wondering if anyone else had any specific or non-specific questions you might be interested in asking him?

I'm basically looking for any off the wall ideas I haven't been able to think of myself, and given that this is an RA interview, not much is out of bounds and funny shit should go well with Danny's sense of humor.

What kind of cars do police in his town drive?

Ask him what he thinks about Deadmau5 calling him a c**t for being a DJ.

Nah, I'd like to keep this as free of shit talking as possible.

Ask him if he enjoys spinning something other than electronic music. I am sure he would be good at it since he can spin pretty much anything.

Did he know when he made his Global Underground mix that it was a little bit special?

Posted by trunks1022 on Oct-17-2008 17:50:

more of a new york based question, but does he wish that vinyl/arc was still open?

Posted by shaw on Oct-17-2008 17:52:

If he was going to refuse to play a night with a DJ named Marcus, who would it be?

Posted by nchs09 on Oct-17-2008 17:52:

Ask him if he enjoys seeing pictures of girls eating sandwiches.

Noted.

If someone asked for Haddaway, would you fucking play it?

Posted by elFreak on Oct-17-2008 17:58:

mention aria and stereo in montreal and he won't shut the fuck up for 13 hours.

Posted by shaw on Oct-17-2008 18:01:

if he could resurrect vinyl/arc by sacrificing a current club, which one would it be?

I'd like to know whether the extensive travel ever just gets too stressful and whether you turn up to some gig in a far flung place and feel like you can't be bothered. I'm sure as a journo you can word it better than I

You could work it a little more tactfully without shit talking. Something like, 'You've been in the scene a long time, do you have any advice for the new breed of DJs/someone who has risen to fame very quickly' or something like that. Again, you can probably reword it better than I!

Favorite city to play in? Favorite club?

(tell him he rocked Vision, Chicago beforehand).

5 things he can't leave home for a gig without? (besides records/cds/headphones) like non-musical related.

also - does he like hookers and blow, and if so, in what percentages? 60% hookers 40% blow? 95%/5%? ...

Actually this is the first time I've ever interviewed anyone.

But seing how many shit ones I've read over the years, I think I have a pretty good handle on what NOT to do.

Stereo Montreal

he has answered that question 500 times.

Clovis you need to catch him off guard and ask him why he always drinks tequilla out of a water bottle at gigs.

I like this.

Ask him something about record stores.

What's the find he is most proud of or was most psyched about?

What's his favorite place to find rare gems?

Can shopping online ever replace the satisfaction of delving into records in a store?

Or, what's his favorite set not spun by him?

What's his favorite record of all time?
