Airbase using Reason??????
Does airbase really use reason to make there tunes or just to plan them out? Nebody know? Id be amazed if they did it all with reason. Id also be shiting myself coz i have reason and thought id got the best out of it possible n the airbase stuff is on another level. Much in the way this face is shitting himself now
yep...
See for your self:

reason can actually sound good when u use samples from real synths in it.

lol.. i dont have to imagine
Im hoping they use samplers, well, theve got to. If u cud get them sounds out of the subtractor id be amazed. I can get similar sounds just nothing that full. Feel a lot better now!
Just finaly been able to look at there site n basicly they only use reason for drums n as a sampler for other synths. I wud imagine the subtractor isnt even touched which is fair enuf as its a bit of dog. Neway, getin ma virus c this friday

nice, you'll be satisfied with the virus. Its a very good synth, then Im sure you'll be able to achieve those full synth sounds
Airbase does use mostly samples and produces his tracks entirely with Reason.
an advice I got from Jezper(Airbase) is to layer synths. For the remix of Labworks - Ibiza Sunrise, he layered about 7 synths to get that phattt sounding lead.

Do u mean when using the synths hes got he samples them? He says hes got cubase 5 so surely the obvious thing would be to use rewire and have both sequencers running at the same time, thats what i do. Seems a bit pointless if hes sampling all his synths when he could just run em in realtime from cubase?

airbase used to use cubase 5 but when his friend introduced him to reason he shut down cubase 5 for good..honestly when i took a look at just the reason interface...i was like whooa hardcore..you can do a lot of shit with it....i know he uses some other yahama synths with reason but i know that reason is his sequencer
I know he uses those sample cds, so do i, but he also says the best thing he did was get that yamaha synth, which u cant control from reason. So either he just samples stuff off his synth or uses cubase along side reason to control them. N the obvious question if he does sample his synths is why? I can see how sampling reduces the amount of kit u need by a lot, ie u dont need a mixer or any expensive sound cards but seeing as he sells his tunes u mite think he would splash out.
actually why dont you ask airbase himself??? hes on the music discussion forum...

do you know where to find clavia and Virus samples on the net ?
Well, to clear it all up for you guys!
I use reason as the only tool when producing. I havent started up Cubase in months, and last time i did that, was to export a midi from an arrangement-file, nothing else.
I very seldom use the subtractor but it happens, if I make a sound that sounds un-subtractorly, if you know what i mean. apart from that, I use the sampler and the drummachine and also the rex loopplayer. I fetch samples to the sampler, samples recorded from some synths, not my yamaha because that one sounds pretty lame compared with a jp-8080 for instance, anyways, i load the samples into the sampler, then makes music.
Easy as that!
Those synthsamples i have, I have never seen them for sale on the internet, and as my site says, Im not selling them either. www.analoguesamples.com is a great resource for samples, thats where I started!

thanks for the info Airbase!!!
I love your work, and this sort of community involvement on the producer's side is what makes the trance community so damn awesome
Keep up the good work!
O Airbase I just adore your music! Certainly if I now with what it is made, I'm just amazed of your great talent.
I'm wondering if you please can tell something more about your way of producing music?
I'm a user of reason too, but I am really wondering how you get that great mastering of your songs (On every sound source it sounds right and fat)?
Second question is: the effects on your songs are perfect too, using only reason effects to manage this?
I am looking forward to your reply.

| Originally posted by Airbase Hi there! Thanks for your good comments! I dont really know how to explain how I make music, as its a pretty tricky question! In short words, I begin with a kick, add some percussion, then I put a bassline, to get a decent basic groove going, from that, I go on to create the track! To get the sounds fat, I have to layer sounds, multiple sounds playing the exact same things with the same settings, making it appear as one sound only! Mastering I make in T-Racks! I use only the reason built in effects that everyone is bad mouthing, I like them, its about using multiple effects, on different channels, and to keep them down alot! // Jeep |
