What genre is this??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAbFD2W3Ch8

Would anybody care to help me understand what genre this song would be labeled as?

My guess is some form of hard or tribal trance?

If you could also help me figure out what other artists or songs would be similar, that would be a help too thanks .

BTW, this was the song that got me into electronic music back in 2001. :P Now it's my life, awesome.

Is there really a reason why you have to be so hostile? All I asked was a simple question. I love electronic music, what is wrong with that? Isn't Armin Van Buuren's, DJ Tiesto's, or Christopher Lawrence's life electronic music to some extent? So what's wrong with it being mine? My life is amazing and I owe it mostly to trance and electronic music, not this song. Please answer the simple question or don't bother. Thanks.

Seriously why can't you guys all just grow up? This reminds me of how kids from my old high school and middle school talk to each other. A straightforward answer from mature adults would be nice.

I'd say its nrg, or hard trance with nrg influnces. maybe hardstyle.

that sample you linked to though is kinda cheesy.
go listen to some darkraver, pavo, luna ect. those guys are a lot harder then that but it may be a good place to start for you.

Ok thanks, NRG, that makes perfect sense. I wouldn't be too sure of it being hardstyle though. Thanks for the help r5a . Much appreciated.

Tribal trance? What is that? lulz

Anyhow mate, that is some horrible music

Posted by airwalker1 on Oct-18-2008 20:46:

ok dude you need to look for hard dance and the track you asked for us to hear falls into that area. or thoe it was a bit too cheese but look for banging tunes.com and look out for hardhouse, nrg. download some sets untill you find what you like.

Posted by BlueSoySauce on Oct-18-2008 21:08:

All the genres mentioned make sense. NRG and hard trance seem to be the best fit. I guess the reason why I still like this song seven years later is because it was a song of my childhood and they always get stuck in your head no matter how cheesy. I definitely listen to way better music including progressive house and trance now. O well. Thanks once again everyone.

Give this kid a break, most of us listened to something fugly at some point

Or think about it this way, this could have been another mau5thread.

Thanks. It's nice to know that there are some civilized people that exist on the site. And yes I admit it's a fugly song, but it's very nostalgic to me in a way. It's a shame that my simple curiosity for what genre it is had to bring out some interesting statements from people. It makes me wonder how old they are in real life, these people. Are they older than me and less mature? Or are they younger than me which would make sense? Either way it's a shame. :P

Ya that's why I replied, never underestimate the power of the nostalgia factor in fugly music.

Better get used to it or your stay won't be pleasant, that I can tell you

It's not a shame, it's exactly the way it should be. It might take you a while to understand, but if you hang around I'm convinced that one day you'll get the bigger picture.

I wouldn't question the maturity of the senior members here, if you want blood you'll get it. Don't take things too personally, you'll just end up breaking yourself.

Well I disagree that it should be this way. I think people these days really do need to grow up. Just because people are more anonymous on the internet doesn't mean they should act this way. I already have the "bigger picture" in my mind, and it's the fact that people on the internet are frequently obnoxious. And of course I can't do anything about it, but I have no problem trying to question their motives either. By the way, I do respect your response regardless of our differences in views .

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your point of view either, as long as you have the words to back up your views, which you seem to have

one of my favourite local DJs plays this kinda music all the time here, really rocks the house and brings back memories for 90s rave victims

no, definitely not trance

it's basically related to hard house, but actually is called "shit" -- I like this music, but most commonly, people refer to it as "shit"
