Wmc 2009

Saw a thread like this in a few other the other forums, thought i'd post one here. Dates are March 24-29. Being under 21 all i've got to look forward to is Ultra and the Beatport pool parties but I'm still pumped

Posted by fiCti0naL on Oct-20-2008 17:17:

Went to my first one in 2007 - had a freaking blast, although I wish I didn't spend so much time at ultra (rain, lame crowds). Ended up getting an invite to the sasha/digweed yacht party and not knowing about it because I was at ultra while the e-mail sat in my inbox at the condo.

I think me and a few friends are planning on going next year and driving down from Charlotte. I'm actually still paying off debt from the 2007 trip - I think I spent around $3500 between me and the girlfriend. I definitely won't be spending that much this time around ;D

Get a decent fake and you'll be able to fully enjoy WMC. Last year my schedule was this:

Wednesday: Danny Howells @ SET (Danny played all night from 10-5)
Thursday: Tom Morgan, BalErik, Luke Fair @ Jafar
Friday Morning: Pryda @ Space Terrace (Paolo Mojo opened, then Eric played for 5 hours.)
Friday Night: James Zabiela & Nic Fanciulli @ Studio A
Saturday: Hernan Cattaneo & John Digweed @ The Vagabond

Just amazing. I would never even ponder going to Ultra.

I'm amazed people still go to Ultra. I've never been, but from the pictures and descriptions I've both seen and heard over the past three years it's been nothing but wank in a ziploc bag.

SICK schedule. I would kill to go the see Howells during wmc. Only reason I still go to ultra is I am unlucky enough to no know anyone who can get me a fake id

If I knew where you lived I could bring a box of 96 crayons and some glitter and we could get all craftsy and shit. And yes, craftsy, not crafty.

I'll bring the scissors, glue and stickers.

Can't wait...Probably not going to Ultra either, its just too hot and even the good DJs don't play good sets.

Posted by trancension on Oct-20-2008 19:35:

Last year was pretty ridiculous.

Ultra drained me though...I enjoyed it, met a lot of cool people. Got approached by an undercover cop looking for drugs, oh the stories.

But Ultra definitely isn't worth it I realized. Too hot and sunny and tiring.

Got there Thursday afternoon with my friend, and we partied non-stop until Sunday afternoon.

The Anjunabeats 100 party @ Nocturnal Thursday night is still my best show of all time. Ridiculous sound system, perfect lighting, fucking amazing set.

And then Armin van Buuren and Markus Schulz closed us out @ Club Parkwest Saturday night.

I recommend everyone go to WMC. Miami is amazing that week. Go to the Ultra Music Festival at your own discretion though...shit drained me. I would've been better off sleeping Friday/Saturday during the day since I didn't get any sleep at night.

Oh, and my favorite part about WMC is...you'll literally be clubbing all night until the afternoon. Place is full of so much energy. I loved it so much!

my 2007 sched was this:
tuesday - junkieXL/fischerspooner/peaches
wednesday - SvD meet & greet --> SvD @ the fifth --> Danny Howells @ Pawn Shop
thursday - Juicy Beach --> Blank & Jones/Cosmic Gate/Sandra Collins
friday - ultra --> zabiela/fanciulli @ fifth
saturday - ultra --> armada w/AvB/schulz/rank 1

and tbh - ultra was a regret. Missed yacht party & armin's extended set, and by the time we got to armada night we were absolutely drained/wet/stinky. The energy was amazing at twilo but it was hard to even stand at that point. we ended up having to leave before rank 1 even came on.

Armada party wa a highlight for sure last year.....

Having been to a big festival (Global Gathering Stratford 2007) myself, I can fully attest to this. The fact that most DJs try to play warmup sets and have AT MOST 2 hours is just horrendous.

I'd like to go (it'd be my first time) but it depends on a lot of things so I'll have to wait.

Posted by Ted Promo on Oct-21-2008 03:43:

*maybe* this year, though I dunno. Depends on ze funds once again. I'd have to be able to find someone to room with (someone who preferably either lives in Miami or knows someone who does that I can crash with).

In any case, I do have another week of paid vacation I have accrued.

Posted by Dream Beamz on Oct-21-2008 09:37:

Thursday: Juicy beach @ Nikki beach
Fri-day: Sasha and Digweed boat party (party of the century if you ask me)
Friday night: PVD @ Space = epic set
Saturday morning: Sander on the terrace
Saturday night: Deep dish @ space

Sunday through Tuesday = sleep

yeh, i went to ultras 5, 6, 7 havent gone again and wont unless its ever at bayfront park again.

Last year was a blast for me... i decided go get over there on monday so i booked all i had to book that day and i drove down there on tuesday night!
This year i plan it big again and i was thinking along with ArminD1981 to rent a 2 bed/2bath condo in south beach or maybe downtown miami cause it will be a lot cheaper if 6 of us will share it.
So anyone interested in this?

any suggestions on where to stay for this?

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-06-2008 05:42:

Anywhere on the actual beach that you can afford. Its worth it.

Let's do it. We can just bring a tent and some sleeping bags and setup in a park somewhere. Or just on the sidewalk.

I know it's worth it. I just went to London two weeks ago, so a nigga is somewhat strapped for cash. I want to be able to order early enough to not get a huge increase in price on tickets, as well as not be able to find a place to stay. I know there are a few hostels in the area, which I'll most likely end up having to do, but I was kind of hoping for something a little better.

Is that a feasible option? I've never been to WMC, but is that what some people do?

Posted by enydo on Nov-06-2008 06:51:

haha no, I don't think that's very feasible at all.

agreed, you would have to drive 100 miles north on I-95 to even be remotely safe doing that

Posted by PVDfan07 on Nov-06-2008 17:37:

I may try to go to this next year. I mean all the world's best djs in one city at one time. Doesn't get much better than that.
