[Tech House/Album in Progress] The Snark - An Agony in 8 Fits

The Snark
An Agony in 8 Fits

NOTE: links removed for now... pending release!

Fit the First
The Landing | 320kbps | 20.1 MB
Navigation was always a difficult art, though with only one ship and one bell:
And he feared he must really decline, for his part, undertaking another as well.

Fit the Second
The Bellman's Speech | 320kbps | 20.9 MB
The danger was past-- they had landed at last, with their boxes, portmanteus, and bags:
Yet at first sight the crew were not pleased with the view, which consisted of chasms and crags.

added October 21, 2008

Fit the Third
The Baker's Tale | 320kbps | 15.2 MB
There was silence supreme! Not a shriek, not a scream, scarcely even a howl or a groan;
As the man they called "Ho!" told his story of woe in an antediluvian tone.

More to come...

thoroughly enjoyed both man, the bellmans speech is probably the better produced of the two, but the landing is definately my favourite, just needs some more work on the perc to make it stand out...

[obligatory] remix? [/obligatory]

I'll try and put something together for ya. I've actually never had to put together a "remix pack", so should be interesting.

I'd be very interested to see where you go with it, having heard some of your other work and appreciating it.

FL Studio, but don't tell anyone.

nice work. kool dubby tech house. it seems like you were shooting for that vibe anyway. If anything i would introduce more hi-hats and snares in that rhythm section because much of your tracks energy is in the bass/sub bass. keep it up!

Thanks for the review, kind sir. Yeah, I was going for a dubby tech-house vibe with a hint of prog influence. I agree that I could use a few more elements in my rhythm section... especially to enhance the "funkiness" on The Landing.

I am playing at a little festival this Saturday... I might try playing it out to see how it sounds on a big system, assuming the one they have is worth anything.

Very nice work!
The bellmans speech is nice and clicky, I'd still try adding in a bit more of that though. More detail, variation and strange beeps and squeals in the beginning would make it perfect! That bassline is really good too, I'll probably play this out if I may...

The landing is a similar story, a few more incidental noises, more automation and some other minor stuff would go a long way. I love the vocal sample in this, I'm a bit of a sucker for that sort of stuff. I think I might like this one even more, they're both great tracks

Listened to and loved both tracks, very pro sounding beats.

I have remixed both of them, once i get a chance to record the remixes i will post them up.

Haw haw! X

Thanks, champ. Yeah, I really dug the vocal sample, too. I was hoping to use it without making it sound too cheesy, and I think I managed to do it.

Thanks for the feedback!

No, its brilliant not cheesy. A few more glitchy elements would make these tracks really perfect. You're definately one of the most talented producers on this board, not just in terms of quality, but consistency and output. I really hope to hear some of your tracks on dancefloors soon
/sucking up
But I really do mean that.

I really, really appreciate that. Thanks a lot for the kind words. It means a lot to me when people can listen and appreciate my tracks and mixes on their own merits.

Ry, I got your PM and I replied to you on MySpace. Feel free to respond, and thanks.

Two very cool and unique tracks.

The bassline introduced halfway through The Bellman's Speech was unexpected but quite effective (nice use of panning).

Not much to say other than these are both great. Arrangement is excellent - you pace the progression of each track brilliantly.

Love the synths, the quirky FX, the simple but effective percussion. Only part I wasn't keen on was the electro style bassline that comes in midway through the bellmans speech.

To me, these are very releaseable, sounded great. I'm well impressed and genuinely looking forward to hearing the other tracks for this album.

Well done

Thanks a lot, guys. Much appreciated.

I was wondering myself if they were releasable, and I did send them to a few labels. Got some positive response, but no signs, so I went ahead and posted them up.

The strange bassline that comes in on Bellman's Speech was something I was not sure if I liked or not... but it was definitely different/unexpected, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Update... third song posted. Much more of a deep/prog thing going on this time. Appreciate your comments.
