Are you trying to say it's shit?

Or is it the shit?

Well if I could actually get it to load any maps or create new ones then that'd be an automatic win over crysis map editor wise.

Well fuck. It's 8 in the morning and I'm bored as shit. Guess I should just go get this.

Posted by Fledz on Oct-23-2008 12:52:

I didn't care about this at all until I read a review about it. Now I want it.

Since I have exams though, I'm not getting anything until I finish my last exam.

Currently that means that on the day I go to play a game I will have:
Fallout 3
Crysis: Warhead
X3: Terran Conflict
Far Cry 2

...sitting in front of me. That should be interesting

Man, tell me about it. I fucking hate the Fall because we get about 3-4 months where 100+ awesome titles released at the same time, to be followed by 9 months of absolutely fucking nothing.

The game industry fucks me right off in that regard.

Played it for a while last night, mainly to get into gameplay and see how my system handled the graphics. Thankfully it runs great with everything set to max at 1920x1200 resolution as long as I don't turn on AA at all. Even at 2x AA it pukes and runs like ass. This is the same system that runs Crysis like pure piss so I was happy to see it handling FarCry2 at max with ease, minus any AA.

During install it warned that my videocard drivers were out of date which was nice because I thought I had the latest Nvidia drivers but there was an October 15th release that I missed.

The intro is very long but once I got past that and got outside, the environments and plants and trees looked great. Nothing mind blowing, but still pleasing on the eyes. It was about then I went to bed so we'll see how it goes later on.

I got this for the PS3 last night. So far I got passed to Tutorial, which takes a while 1 hour to 2 hours. The graphics are good, I cant complain about much. Maybe the texture of the plants is not the greatest but I don't care the environment as a whole looks great. The game play reminded me of Far Cry, in the sense that you come to an area and you don't know where you are getting shot from because enemies go for cover behind trees and stuff like that. I really like this type of gameplay because it really cracks up the pressure and you have to be ready for enemies from any direction.

One set back is the control of the character and the vehicles. The layout is identical to COD 4 which is ok. But the aiming and all that was not very precise when I started playing, I was able to fix this problem by playing around with the sensitivity in the options, so it is no longer a problem. Also the vehicle control is not pressure sensitive, so it seems that you are either flooring it or not giving any gas at all, maybe it is this way because gas and break are currently set to R1 & L1, and those buttons may not be pressure sensitive so I need to play around with the different control schemes (which there are plenty).

So over all I enjoyed the first 2 hours and now its time for the real game to begin.

It's all about releasing at the right time for the Christmas/Holiday season. Speaking of which, this year will be a kick ass year for great deals on electronics of all sorts...especially HDTV's. If u don't have one, and are ready to get one, u will get the best deal. Circuit City is on the brink of shutting down permanently, and they are practically giving shit away. Scrape up any cash u can and buy buy buy!

Ok having played this a bit now I'm quite disappointed. This game has a lot of what I feel are annoying aspects. Things like your weapon degrades or jams so you have to keep it in good condition, you get tired and have to sleep. Who gives a shit about these things. I just want to blast through the jungle and have a good time without having to worry about my gun jamming and getting a good nights rest! WTF? Furthermore, the voice acting is the worst I have ever witnessed in a game. The actors mumble and runs words together. Its does not sound natural at all. The graphics are ok but some corners were cut and its obvious. Just look at your character's arm when he is holding a rifle. Its like a long straight slab of arm and skin and does not look even remotely normal.

What do you all think?

I agree with all of the above. Bought it this last weekend, played through about 6-8 hours of it, traded it back in for full credit for something else down the line.

Really disappointed.

PKC you missed a '....oh never mind

Man, things like sleeping and jamming are all part of the immersion. I think that's better not worse. Like we fucking need more bog standard "dumbed down console shooters" for lack of a better term.

yeah, that was my thought. if you wanna play something like that then theres 100 other shooters out there. nice to see them trying something different at least. a best mate of mine reckons the game is awesome, and the interaction of fire is apparently really cool. still will have to wait to play it myself obviously.

Realism in video games tends to make them boring as fuck. It can work in tactical games, but in an action shooter it only takes you away from it all. What's next? Are you gonna get random leg cramps where you have to bend down and repetively mash "X" to make your character massage his calf? Some degree of it is good, but it's when devellopers go all out to make everything too life-like that games start feeling dull. Real life is boring, that's the whole reason we play games. There's much more interesting gameplay to be had in stylized, semi-realistic games. This is why UT99 and Quake 3 are, to this day, the best shooters out there.

I completely agree. Well said.

Too bad this had to be released so close to Fallout 3.

change your acceleration options in control panel.

Posted by Project-K on Nov-03-2008 14:45:

I often have this problem with sensitivity being too low in shooters, and often you can solve it by tweaking one of the .ini files.
