Basic sample player for Logic

i'm looking for a very basic sample player just to play single one shots (ie kicks, claps, hats etc).. Dont want any ADSR, Filter or Effects options as any effecting will be done in the channel strip.

Or would using the EXS for this at 1 sample per instance be just as CPU friendly ??

How about just making an audio track then?

yeah that would work but would be difficult to change the sample if you weren't happy and loop ain't as easy as with midi regions..

i'm used to Reason's Redrum but i don't wanna rewire...

Just use EXS24. The sampler is extremely low CPU, since it is really not doing much other than playing a sample from disk. I often have up to 10 instances of EXS24 in a track with almost no CPU usage whatsoever.

run all your samples off an external hard drive. the exs doesn't use too much cpu. whats your setup?

I've used Logic just briefly a while back, but doesn't EXS24 only allow you to load in sampler instruments instead of one shot WAV/AIFF files? Correct me if I'm wrong please

Nope, you can load WAV files, but you have to make a Sampler Instrument out of them first.

yea its not too hard. just open the edit menu and load samples in and save the exs files. you can also download the exs files from certain sample cds webpages, like vengeance has them up on their webpage.
