Which is the better option

So i've decided I want to use my laptop to help me DJ because getting CDJs are too expensive.

Which is the better option:

1)
Virtual DJ
+
http://www.amazon.com/Hercules-DJ-C...21179452&sr=1-1

2)
Traktor
+
Xone 1d

Personally, I'd save a bit more and buy used CDJ 200s and a 2 channel mixer.

But it seems that all you want is a MIDI controller. Look at some Vestax ones such as the VCI 100. Gives you a lot more than the Xone 1D for less/same price. There's not even a crossfader in the 1D so you cant mix.

since when do you need a crossfader to mix? but i agree, that the xone:1D isn't probably best suited for mixing with it only as it only has one jog wheel and not very many controls. xone:1D would IMO work better with a real mixer, and still i'd get two of them. so i'd maybe look in to the vestax vci-100 like suggested.

Traktor + midi controller

Ok, the vci 100 seems like its good since you guys recommended it.

Are there any other controllers that are worth checking out?

I would buy a Faderfox or A&H but that is just my preference.

How about the Serato ITCH program and controller? Plus you'll get a nice soundcard with it.

The VCI-100 honestly seems like the best controller out there for the price.

Here are some other controllers but they can be quite expensive:

Vestax VCI-300 - Only works with Serato ITCH out of the box.

Numark NS7 - Also only works with Serato ITCH out of the box.

Stanton SCS

Allen & Heath Xone 3d

M-Audio Torq Xponent

Technics SL-DZ1200

But yea personally I'd get the VCI-100

The VCI-300 can be used with any other app. You'd have to map it out yourself, just like any other controller. Or just download a midi map file from online.

The tight integration with ITCH looks quite nice, though.

The Xponent has cool features, but it's cheaply made.

Oh I thought you needed to do more than that in order for it to work with Traktor. I wonder if the price difference justifies buying a 300.

You do pay a premium for the ITCH software.

Having the multi channel soundcard is nice too. It's almost $900 though.

The 100 is definitely nice as well.

What multi-channel sound cards are you looking at? There are quite a few options out there for much < $900.

LOL. No I meant the vestax vci-300 package is around $900.

Btw, the VCI 100 comes with traktor as well.

Well actually it comes with Traktor LE, not the full studio version.
