Maradona is the new Argentina national team manager
I have no words to express how retarded this is.
gtfo. source?

Awful. He's been given the job because of who he is, not because he has any sort of coaching credential what so ever. Plus the guy ain't exactly a beacon of light given his history of drug use within the game. Wasn't the guy recently dis-charged from hospital after he took a turn for the worse.
I liked him as a footballer but sensible this is not. Well always look on the bright side, cocaine sales will go through the roof now that lucozade sport has been replaced with the white stuff within the training camp.
cocaine for everyone!
other sources report that he's been offered the position but hasn't accepted yet because he's working out a few things he wants before he steps in.
which leads me to believe jason has hit this one right on the nose...
w00t... lines... lines and more lines...
I bet Argentina got some sick 8 balls.

Jokes are piling up for this one...
Its really weird, because with no coaching experience, he is still mentioned for spots as managar.
I remember a couple of years back, when Coco Baciles left from boca to become the coach for the argentine squad, his name was thrown around alot. Maybe because he played there? I dunno. He is also at every Boca game.
Also when they fired that useless twat mexican coach, his name was mentioned.
I, for one, am very excited about this. Let's see how he does.
He should dye his hair again
good coach >< good player
he'll most certainly have the players respect but whether he knows a fucks worth about management of a team.
The ultimate test will come in a few weeks when they face the of scotland with a forward line led by the mighty-Shitey Chris Iwelumo

figure head
thats all he'll be. Assistants will do most of the work, maradona will get the glory when they win.
If they have a little extra energy playing out there now we all know why
and then theres this

THE CHURCH OF MARADONA
Founded 10 years ago by a group of friends in Rosario, a port city to the north of Buenos Aires, it has swelled to more than 120,000 members. Dozens of more members were "baptized" on Wednesday by slamming a football with their hand, in homage to the "Hand of God" goal Maradona scored against England in the 1986 World Cup.

And now, Maradona could become the new Argentina ex-national team manager.

| Maradona To Quit As Argentina Coach - Report The latest reports coming from Buenos Aires suggest that Diego Armando Maradona could be set to step down as coach of Argentina. Just two weeks ago Diego Maradona was named as the new coach of the Argentinean national side, following the resignation of the former coach Alfio Basile. Maradona managed to see off many challengers, including the likes of Diego Simeone, Carlos Bianchi and Sergio Batista, to officially be named as the new head coach on October 29, 2008. It was expected that arguably the greatest footballer of all time would commence his role as of December this year, however that may not be the case if the latest reports are true. The Argentine broadcast media have began to speculate today on a possible surrender of Maradona as coach of the national side, following a heated discussion with AFA president Julio Grondona, in a meeting that was to decide who would assist him in his coaching role. The 1986 World Player of the Year could resign as a result, following the disagreements that took place earlier today. Maradona had hoped to bring in Oscar Ruggeri as his number two, however Grandona wanted nothing of it, which consequently caused further problems between the two men. Goal.com will keep you updated with the situation. |
lulz
Riquelme not called by Maradona for the nxt match. This is better than any soap opera people.
Diego Simeone is a great coach. I would not be surprised if he ends up either as the coach of argentina (if he leaves river) or somewhere in europe.
