Question Burial - Archangel (Nomad In The Dark Re-Edit)

Is this ever gonna be released? Or has it already been released?

Posted by sot on Oct-29-2008 04:00:

not released yet.

ask him on myspace when it will be.

great track

Isn't released and isnt set in stone that it will be. Basically was done as a cheeky bootleg which many DJs have since supported. It's now waiting on approval from Burial's management regarding a possible release.

Another minimal(ish) remix of a dubstep track... Me likes.

He was advised not to share it whilst a decision is made on whether it will see an official release.

Anyone with a sample?

It's shit. There's no need to make re-edits of something that is (nearly) perfect.

I dunno but every attempt at reworking this I've heard sounded really awkward to me. Let it be alone.

Agreed.

I heard Digweed drop it live. It sounds amazing live, but it doesn't do anything for me on his myspace player.

Same thing happened for me... I heard it live and it was awesome to unexpectedly be hearing Archangel all of a sudden. Listening to it on his myspace, it's impossible to not compare it to the original which is just so good.

Was lucky to get a copy before he was told not to share the track anymore

Original is better, but I love the vibe of the remix as well.

This track is a jewel

Could it be that when Digweed or Cattaneo drop the track , making it sound stunning is because they play it at 128 bpm the one on myspace is 123 bpm...

I tried it on traktor at that speed ...Its a power track no doubt about that...

I think I like it slower actually

I actually really like the vibe on this one, probably just because I love the vocals in Archangel so much. It's really nowhere near the original though, just a fun track.

Nope, it isnt as they decided they didnt want to release it as he "sampled their track without permission" cited as the reason.

Quite ironic when you think most of Burial's album sampled something.

did you honestly ever think a label like hyperdub would allow the release of a half-assed farthouse refix like that?

Posted by stripped99 on Dec-13-2008 10:06:

A brilliant remix that works everytime its never gonna come out but the guy has some original material out soon so that should suffice.Indeed Diggers,Cattaneo,Warren,Pete Tong,Dave Seaman,Jody Wisternoff,Ricky Ryan have all been playing this amongst others and his remix of Sasha's Ohmna has been recieving similar support eleven from the man himself.
Nomad is now busying himself with his own material including and ep and remixes of forthcoming tracks by Federico Epis and Silinder.
