Sweet prank (probably repost)

Yes, the photo above is real: It is Animalfrom The Muppetsdriving a British Audi while speeding through a German road. The famous pink drummer is driving the police there absolutely crazy, because he keeps doing it again and again. Or better said, the real driver is, using a low-tech approach to take advantage of a weak point of the radar cameras. I don't know about you, but this image makes me laugh out loud. The German police, however, wasn't amused when they explained to the press how the whole joke worked and how they couldn't fine the driver because of it:

The number plate is not enough [to catch and fine the driver]. We need clear evidence of who is driving the vehicle too. But because this is a British vehicle we can never get a decent picture [because the radar cameras are designed to take photos of the passengers in the left seat, not the right]. The driver has obviously worked this out because he has placed a large puppet in the passenger seat.

This may be an example of the famous British sense of humour but it is still dangerous driving. The driver has been caught on camera on several occasions and the puppet is on the passenger seat every time. We suspect he positions the toy deliberately before accelerating past the camera.

The drivers face looks swirled.

by reading the comments in the link, we learn that the software that takes these photos apparently automatically swirls the "passenger's" face (in this case the driver's) because it's deemed unnecessary. i bet they'll rethink that one.

There's also a swirl on the side of the car. Is it because that exact spot on the door panel has been deemed unnecessary too?

That doesn't look like a swirl. Looks more like the reflection of a sign.

I dunno, not an expert on these things, so probably the wrong person to ask. Dude.

Maybe its this guy?

I'm confused, why would they swirl the face if they need it to issue a ticket? I think they do camera tickets in some places in the USA but I'd think it be difficult to see the face for identification. Capturing the lic plate wouldn't be enough because the driver isn't always the owner of the car.

This is like a week old already lol.

And the camera, if you read the original article, is made to only take clear pictures of the driver. In this instance, the driver was on the opposite side that Germans usually drive on.

So how is putting a doll on the other side of you preventing the camera from taking your picture? Would I be able to confuse security cameras while robbing a bank by holding a doll to the side of me? This whole story seems rather stupid. Tinted glass would be a better hindrance to the camera.

I assumed the guy was playing a doll prank to avoid a ticket not that the story was the prank. That makes the whole subject that more worthless and stupid.

Well it was to avoid getting the ticket, but it was an intentional prank nonetheless. They have a similar problem in the UK (or so they lead you to believe in the article) with LHD cars.

Must make you an even bigger idiot for believing a story from a celebrity tabloid paper. Btw, they found big foot a couple of months ago too.

The story first surfaced in the UK's Daily Star and should probably be taken with a whole shakerful of salt...
