Abu Jihad, that's quite the name for a terrorist. :P

I truly suppor the stance that President Bush has taken lately, on pursuing these thugs. We should continue striking these individuals in Pakistan, this would send a clear message to the Paki govt that if they dont put their part on the war on the terror(which we basically finance by giving them money) we will hun them down on their territory.

Posted by {b.s.e.} on Nov-02-2008 00:56:

Yeah, that'll learn dem good for hatin' our freedumb. Fuck sovereignty, USA does what it wants! AMERICA, FUCK YEAH.

Speaking of hunting terrorism in other countries, why hasn't anyone tracked Bush down and shoved a missile up his ass?

If we have to invade a country for that reason... its justifiable. If the Paki govt is irresponsible. We would be doing them a favor going in there to clean the house.

Pointless infringement of Pakistani sovereignty. Disgusting. I wonder how many new recruits this will bring to insurgent groups in the area......There is no military solution to terrorism. Let me repeat that. THERE IS NO MILITARY SOLUTION TO TERRORISM. Not in Iraq. Not in Afghanistan. Not anywhere.

if you want to look at it that way, this ass-hat was an international Egyptian fugitive in the region illegaly having absolutely no business where he was subsequently vaporized.

this was in N Waziristan, a completely different ballgame with respect to "Pakistani Sovereignty". look it up.

...and i agree there is no military solution to terror as a whole. i don't think anybody believes that. it's one of those senseless anti-war memes that people like to regugitate because it sounds pretty.

for once, im in agreement with Q5.

The man was a fugitive criminal. So we send a $1 million missile? I wonder how much collateral damage there was, because the media rarely ever reports on that. And so what if the man is killed? Like that's going to stop the insurgency?

Hard line Republicans believe ending terrorism entails killing them all. IMPOSSIBLE. The more you bomb them, the more countries we occupy, the more they will be against us, and the more terrorism there will be.

Do you still believe liberal democracy is possible in Afghanistan?

Hellfire's cost around $50,000 a piece. look it up. helluva bargain considering we've had a bounty on this guy for a cool $1million for a while now.

he got the predator prostate exam while riding in a car out in the middle of nowhere so probably not as much collateral damage as you would like.

all countries kill or capture fugitives of all sorts from child molesters to drug kingpins, and go to the ends of the earth to do it. we do it but that certainly doesn't mean child molesting and drug traficking will immediatley cease. we do it because it's the right thing to do and that that particular fugitive won't do it again. nothing really different here.

i believe a democracy will succeed, not necessarily a "liberal" democracy.

Agree to disagree on all counts. We'll leave it there.

that's like saying, "What's the point of arresting that guy who sold crack to a 12 year old... like that's going to stop other people from selling to kids?"

It works very well in South Korea, Kuwait, Germany, and a lot of places all over the world where we have a presence... just not so much in the middle east. Will it ever? Too early to tell but I'd wager probably not.

side note- did you get that job at the fed. reserve man????

South Korea, Kuwait, and Germany? Are you referring to the Korean War, the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait, and the 3rd Reich? Korea was in a civil war. And Kuwait and Germany were issues of aggressor nations, which needed to be dealt with. Going after criminals in foreign countries? Completely different.

Nah with the Fed, I called 3 times, left messages, they neither answered their phones or returned my calls. I sent them my resume and a cover letter specifically to them. I'm going to call one last time on Monday. I dunno what their problem is. I'm gonna PM my cover letter to you, you let me know if it's impressive, because I think after reading it, they'd be stupid not to want to hire me.

I just meant having a military presence in other places where it works out... obviously we aren't in those places in the same manner as when we first set up shop, and they don't look at us as occupiers.

But anyway, just read your cover letter. Yeah man it's nice... not sure why you can't get the courtesy of a return phone call. You know, that's what would piss me off more than anything; if you don't want to hire me, fine, but have the courtesy to give me 2 seconds of your time to tell me. Not suggesting you do this, but before I started doing what I'm doing now, if I was in a position like yours and wasn't getting the return phone call, even when it got to the point where I knew there was no chance of getting hired, I would still call back and request to speak with someone by name specifically (someone who makes decisions, NOT a secretary or go-between)every single day for a month if I had to... eventually they'll put you through just so you stop calling them. As long as you're polite and courteous every single time you call, you don't have to worry about tarnishing your name. Some bosses actually have an appreciation for the presistence, and if not, at least you were polite each time. I'd just calmly ask if I was still being considered and if not, thank them for the opportunity and ask if there's something in particular you can do to improve your resume.

Yea, that sounds like a good idea. I'm going to call again Monday. I'm also going to call this financial advising company that I also sent my resume and cover letter to. I've call them 3 times, at least got a secretary, but never able to get to the man I want to speak to. Left a message, sent an email, no response. I'm going to hound them until they talk to me...

Is that to Krypton, he expects a president like Obama, that he would think that he is smart enough to convince world leaders on the right things they should do. He has found that candidate, Obama!

Me too, in principle at least. I don't believe in being cavalier about operations in Pakistan, but I'm glad the US finally has its eyes back on the ball.
